Bridgewater-Raynham coach Dan Buron says there will be a day and time to enjoy his career.

The sole focus this week is Brockton, not Buron.

Bridgewater-Raynham will travel to Brockton tomorrow for the Southeast Conference title. The game is the final one in the storied career of Buron, who is retiring from his dual duties as coach and athletic director following the season.

“Honestly, my only focus is on Brockton,” Buron said. “We’ve always took things one game at a time and right now that’s Brockton.”

If you’re going to go out, there aren’t too many better ways than to ride into the sunset with an undefeated team. BridgewaterRaynham enters the contest with a 4-0 record, giving Buron a career mark of 20791-2 going back to his start in 1993.

“I thought we would be pretty good, but I really didn’t know what to expect,” Buron admitted. “We take pride in our offensive line and they’ve been tremendous in front of Anthony Morrison (the star running back with more than 1,000 yards in four games). We have a group of 20 seniors and they’ve been awesome, it’s been a lot of fun.”

The running game is going to be very important as Brockton has game-changing players on the offensive side of the ball. Devonte Medley has completed 45of-68 passes for 740 yards and seven touchdowns, while rushing for 346 yards on 45 carries.

“(Medley) scares me, he’s so much better in terms of decision-making,” Buron said.

“He’s even more dangerous when he gets out of the pocket, he’s kind of like (Patrick) Mahomes.”

The closest Buron came to showing emotion about the final game came when he talked about Brockton coach Peter Colombo as well as his future.

“Peter is a dear friend,” Buron said. “We help each other all year long except for one game. I’ve always looked at Brockton as the epicenter of high school football and they’re still a benchmark of where we are as a team.

“As for me, I’m definitely taking the fall off. After that I’d like to get back into football in some capacity. I’d like to be able to help some program. Maybe I’ll be Peter’s assistant.”

The Catholic Conference announced that it would not hold a postseason playoff, but would use the final weeks to determine a champion.

What happens tomorrow afternoon could go a long way toward determining that. In what amounts to a Thanksgiving Day rivalry game in April, Xaverian travels to St. John’s Prep, while BC High hosts

Catholic Memorial. Under the revised schedule, Xaverian and Catholic Memorial, which are the only two remaining undefeated teams in league play, will square off next week.

Norwood looks to remain unbeaten when it hosts defending Tri-Valley League Large champion Ashland. A pair of interesting tilts on the Cape as Upper Cape hosts Tri-County, while Sandwich travels to

Nantucket.

Key contests today include Plymouth South at Scituate, Andover at Central Catholic, Acton-Boxboro at Lincoln-Sudbury, Lynnfield at Ipswich and Bishop Fenwick at Archbishop Williams. The Abington-Mashpee contest will be played at Norwell.
