Abington edges Mashpee for Tobin title

Owen Reardon’s 48-yard touchdown run and Tommy Fanara’s subsequent PAT at 8:13 of the third quarter proved to be the difference as Abington (4-1) edged Mashpee 25-24 to claim the South Shore League Tobin title.

Nelson Mendes-Stephen ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a third, leading Lexington (3-1) to a 35-6 victory over Winchester in the Middlesex League. … James Murphy threw three touchdowns, two caught by Patrick Harrigan as Reading defeated Arlington 35-0. … Chris Dragone ripped off a 65-yard TD run and Nate Nazarian added the gamewinnin­g 2-point conversion run as Stoneham (2-1) edged Wakefield 15-14.

Jason Hall rushed for 273 yards and five touchdowns on 15 carries, giving him 1,035 yards in five games, as Durfee (3-2) rolled past New Bedford 48-7 in the Southeast Conference.

Dylan Aguiar and Francisco Hernandez-Manon each ran for a pair of touchdowns as Bishop Stang (4-1) defeated Arlington Catholic 41-13 in the Catholic Central League.

Juan Setalsingh had three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and 220 yards of total offense as KIPP Academy (4-1) defeated Whittier 29-14 in a Commonweal­th Athletic Conference game.

Brian Heffernan threw a pair of touchdown passes and Jack Donahue ran for two more as North Reading (3-2) defeated Triton 33-26 in the Cape Ann League. … Carter Coffey threw two touchdowns and added another on the ground, giving Hamilton-Wenham (4-1) a 28-0 victory over Manchester Essex.

Josh Robertson completed 16-of-19 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for two more as Marblehead (5-0) coasted to a 40-0 win over Danvers in the Northeaste­rn Conference.

Tristan Benson ran for 128 yards and two scores as Holliston (3-1) defeated Medfield 35-7 in the Tri-Valley League. Christian Schneeloch added 115 rushing yards and one touchdown, while returning a fumble 62 yards for a second score.

Jennifer Borges netted a hat trick as Boston Internatio­nal (3-1) rolled to a 6-2 victory over New Mission in the Boston City League.

Kostandino­s Papajani scored the lone goal of the game to lead Latin Academy (5-0) past Burke 1-0 in a Boston City League game.

Girls volleyball

Lauren Tian tallied 16 kills and Kate Jiang added 35 assists as Winchester (8-0) secured the Middlesex League Liberty division title with a 3-0 victory over Lexington.

Lauryn Friess and Corinne Herr recorded 31 digs each as Concord-Carlisle (10-0) outlasted Newton South, 3-2, in the Dual County League.
