After an 18-day pause that saw 22 players test positive for COVID-19, it would have been understandable for the Canucks to have a sluggish return.

It was anything but on Sunday night, as Bo Horvat scored his second goal of the game at 1:19 of overtime to give Vancouver a 3-2 win over North leader Toronto.

Brayden Holtby made 37 saves, including a spectacular head-over-heels stop on Wayne Simmonds midway through the third. Nils Hoglander tied the game for the Canucks just over a minute later, setting the stage for Horvat’s OT winner.

Sabres 4, Penguins 2 — Sam Reinhart scored twice, and the Buffalo Sabres played spoiler in the East Division playoff race with a win over Pittsburgh.

Rookie Arttu Ruotsalainen and Rasmus Asplund, with an empty-netter, also scored for Buffalo. The Sabres bounced back a day after becoming the NHL’s first team eliminated from playoff contention.

Rangers 5, Devils 3 — Birthday boy Mika Zibanejad scored a power-play goal with three minutes to play and the Rangers swept a four-game series over the past six days.

Chris Kreider, Vitali Kravtsov, Alexis Lafreniere and Ryan Strome also scored as the Rangers extended their season-high point streak to six games (5-0-1). Alexandar Georgiev finished with 25 saves.

Golden Knights 5, Ducks 2 — Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty and Nicolas Roy each had a goal and an assist Sunday as Las Vegas moved into a tie for first place in the West Division with Colorado. Alex Pietrangelo and Alex Tuch also scored goals, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 33 saves.

Islanders 1, Flyers 0 — Nick Leddy scored 2:23 into overtime and Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves to lift the New York Islanders to a win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
