Events planned to remember attacks
Here are some events being held to remember Sept. 11, 2001:
Kraft Family 9/11 Memorial Garden The Kraft family, New England Patriots, New England Revolution and Patriot Place teamed up to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with flowering trees, a plaque and tribute stones created by Patriots and Revolution athletes. (Outside Gillette Stadium, anytime)
National 9/11 commemoration
President Joe Biden will travel to the three sites where planes crashed in the 9/11 attacks. It’s unclear whether he will make remarks at those events. CNN will air a national special at 7 p.m. (New York, Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, Saturday)
Plymouth Fire Department ceremony The Plymouth Fire Department will march with the Hillybriar Bagpipers from the fire station at 15 Hedge Road to the 9/11 Memorial at 1 South Spooner St. The memorial service will also include a memorial prayer, remarks from local and state officials, police and firefighter prayers and a benediction. Westfield Fire Department ceremony Westfield Fire will hold its ceremony at 9:45, then the mayor will be joined at the 9/11 Monument across from 94 North Elm St. by families of Westfield natives who died in the attacks. (9:45 a.m. Saturday, Westfield Fire Headquarters, 34 Broad St.)
Beverly Never Forgets A Beverly team — MA Task Force 1, Urban Search & Rescue — was the first Federal Emergency Management Team to arrive in New York City at Ground Zero, and the event will showcase the group’s efforts, as well as the day as a whole, with speakers, equipment exhibits and informational stations. Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters Memorial Annual Ceremony The fire community will gather to honor the firefighters, first responders and citizens lost on 9/11. Expect a Pipes & Drums and Honor Guard procession, as well as appearances from Gov. Charlie Baker and other officials. (4 p.m. Saturday, procession starting at the Shaw Memorial on Boston Common)
