The future of Boston

-

I would like to share with you my thoughts about the recent column written by Joan Vennochi for the Boston Globe titled “Do George Regan and Friends Help or Hurt Annissa Essaibi George?” The column was a veiled attempt to once again tie the mayoral candidate to former President Donald Trump. This is so far from the truth that it’s both ridiculous and unfair. But it also tells me something. It tells me that the Wu campaign and its surrogates are desperate. To actively promote a “six degrees of separation” story angle, which has no merit, shows us that Wu has no real ideas to move our city in the right direction.

The city of Boston, the city we all love, is at a critical crossroads right now and this mayoral race may be one of the most important in our lifetimes. The Boston Public School system is in shambles as parents must cross their fingers each morning in the hope that their children will get to school due to the busing fiasco, and learn something if and when they get to class. The schools are virtually on the brink of state receivership and being taken over due to the failing education system. The morale in the Boston Police Department is at an alltime low, as Wu and her surrogates look to defund the department. Meanwhile, most city residents, the real people of Boston, want their streets and neighborhoods safe. They don’t want Boston to devolve into another Portland, Ore., or Seattle, Wash., where angry mobs have taken over the streets.

These are the reasons that I became involved with former Boston Police Commissioner William G. Gross, who formed his own PAC, Real Progress Boston. I fear for the future of our city under the leadership of Michelle Wu, whose unpractical “think tank” ideas (such as making trains and buses free for all riders, which she has no authority to do) are better served at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and not City Hall in Boston. Our city faces real challenges that require real solutions. That is why I strongly support Annissa Essaibi George for mayor of Boston

However, the column did get something right. It stressed that the Real Progress Boston PAC has been highly effective and successful thus far in this race. But we have much more work to do. I would like you all to join us in this effort to save our city. I strongly support Commissioner Gross’ mission and your support and donations are critical to this effort to bring common sense and real solutions back to City Hall.

Together, we can steer Boston back on the right path.
