LX 600 is an upscale monster

- GRASSO’S GARAGE Marc GRASSO

Big, bigger, biggest, let me start out with saying this thing is a monster.

As the huge and ginormous SUV market is all the craze, for this week’s test Lexus is offering its all-new 2022 LX 600. Not only is this a gorgeous SUV, but one that brings so much to the auto review table.

First we acknowledge the space and size of the flagship LX 600 luxury. Wrapped in Atomic Silver with a Black leather interior and black open pore ornamentation, the LX 600 boasts passenger seating for seven, heated and ventilated seats, one-touch power folding rear seats and a cool box. The front seats extend nicely and offer plenty of legroom and are ultra-inviting without the cockpit-like feel.

Technology-wise, we notice some great upgrades over the prior LX570 model as well. In desperate need of a refresh, the LX 600 takes care of that and then some, offering a 12.3 in. touchscreen display with navigation, Mark Levinson 25speaker surround sound stereo, 11.4-inch rear-seat entertainment, wireless Apple Carplay and Android

Auto. Plus, six USB ports, a wireless charging station on the center console, Bluetooth capabilities are just a few of the available features.

Powering the LX 600 behemoth is a 409 horsepower, 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 engine producing 479 lb.-ft. of torque. A 10-speed direct-shift automatic transmission is also present. Towing capacity is up to 8,000 pounds while crawl control and full time fourwheel drive are also standard.

Riding on 22-inch forged alloy wheels, the LX 600 is a dream machine for mass quantity ridership and overall usage. Lets not forget its 4WD capabilities, this offroad dream will go anywhere and look good doing it. Specifically designed for families who enjoy mountain retreats, hiking and biking, the LX 600 is just the SUV for you. Gas mileage seemed to be better, as well, over the LX 570 but still wasn’t excellent as our test came in under 19 mpg. Limited body roll and proportionate styling really helped confirm Lexus is on its game.

Although bigger isn’t always better, for Lexus, it is exactly what it wanted. The previous LX 570 was in dire need of an update and with endless customers asking for a refresh, and Lexus did just that. When the LX 600 hit the production floor, there was no looking back for Lexus as this is a dream machine.
