Musk’s Twitter a nightmare for Sen. Liz Warren

-

Elizabeth Warren probably spit out her coffee when news broke that Elon Musk is eyeing a $43 billion hostile takeover of Twitter.

Her Oval Office aspirations have now taken a direct hit that she can’t easily talk her way out of if Musk turns Twitter into a true free speech platform.

Warren and Musk famously squared off on the social media platform when she called him out over taxes.

Musk hit back hard tweeting in December of 2021 that Warren sounded like an “angry” parent.

“You remind me of when I was a kid and my friend’s angry Mom would just randomly yell at everyone for no reason,” Musk wrote, after also telling Warren to “stop projecting.” He also linked to her infamous claims of Cherokee heritage, first reported by the Herald.

He soon added: “Please don’t call the manager on me, Senator Karen.”

Warren also tweaked Musk, and other billionaires, over taxes. He didn’t let that stand, either.

“And if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year,” he tweeted. We’ll leave his tax bill for a deeper dive, but according to multiple reports he paid $11 billion for 2021.

What scrambled Warren’s breakfast is the Tesla and SpaceX boss has submitted an offer to buy all the Twitter stocks he doesn’t already own for $54.20 per share. That adds up to $43 billion.

Musk called that price his best and final offer, although he provided no details on financing, the wire report states. The guy has a hefty bank account so I’m sure he can handle the mortgage.

This is all about freedom of speech. As we wrote in this space the other day, Musk is a champion of open dialogue and is being lobbied to use his Twitter clout to lift the ban on former President Donald Trump.

Elizabeth Warren doesn’t like capitalism. She’s a progressive who was pushed out of the presidential race over fears of her lack of electability. The Democrats played it safe and anointed the more traveled Joe Biden.

He’s more moderate than Warren will ever be — plus Vermont’s Bernie Sanders is really the party’s socialist. So Warren, once a front-runner, was the odd candidate out.

Having a unencumbered Musk firing away from Twitter in a platform he would control 100% is exactly the obstacle Warren will find difficult to overcome. All her wild ideas on driving the country away from the free market will be challenged by Musk.

Every crazy position paper she submits on capping innovation will crash into the Tesla king.

Social media can be a cesspool. Plus, most of the real work everyone retweets is done by journalists who aren’t easily spoon-fed by Warren, AOC and other denizens of the far left. We’ll also dig for the facts from far-right smoke bombs.

That’s exactly what Musk appears to be advocating. He’s all for a free-speech platform that can help us grow and share ideas to better the planet we all share. Warren can post away, but she’ll be faced with an army of responders who will hold her accountable.

We won’t dredge up her spurious claims of Native American heritage here today, what we will do is welcome a return to open dialogue where Twitter could improve the feed and allow a healthy debate to return.

That will include calling out the next wonky missive Elizabeth Warren plants in the Twitter stream.
