At the border, ignorance is Biden’s bliss

Prez continues silence on crisis at southern border

- Grace CURLEY

News broke Friday that a Texas National Guard soldier went missing after trying to save two illegal migrants in the Rio Grande river in Eagle Pass, Texas. Later, Fox News reported that the two illegal migrants who the missing soldier was trying to save were “involved in illicit transnational narcotics trafficking.”

The crisis on our southern border has led to so many of these senseless tragedies.

Every American should be infuriated by what is happening in Texas and other border states. But don’t expect to hear much, if anything, about it from the president.

Joe Biden has a duty, according to Article IV, Section 4, of the Constitution, to protect states against invasion. However, the commander-in-chief obviously has no intention of upholding his duty. Even though Joe Biden might not know what Title 42 is (he confused it with the travel mask mandate this week), his administration is ending it. The public health order, which allows for the rapid expulsion of migrants at the border, is set to end on May 23. As the Washington Examiner pointed out earlier this week, “The situation at southern border, already a humanitarian and national security crisis, threatens to become far worse in the weeks ahead.”

The situation is dire, but you wouldn’t know it from watching the president be led around the White House South Lawn by the Easter bunny.

Biden and his crew of Ivy League legacies have zero interest in addressing the deteriorating situation. Actually — that isn’t entirely true. Whenever members of the Biden-Harris crew see an opportunity to vilify the men and women working to protect our border from invasion, they waste no time stampeding to a microphone.

Back in September 2021, Twitter erupted because a video supposedly showed border patrol agents whipping Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas. Everyone in the administration, from Vice President Kamala Harris to White House Spin Secretary Jen Psaki, couldn’t get on cable TV fast enough to condemn the horrific actions of the agents. But these same grandstanders can’t even muster up apologies now that the agents have been cleared of wrongdoing.

On Friday, while the search was underway for the missing Texas National Guard Soldier, the president was speaking at a fundraiser in Portland. He didn’t mention the border once. He did manage to chastise Republicans for “going after Mickey Mouse” and to brag yet again about once being listed the “poorest man in Congress.”

If only the president were as concerned about the surge of illegal aliens pouring into the country as he is about Governor Ron DeSantis signing a bill to revoke Disney’s special district status. Alas, when it comes to protecting our border, Willow the cat has got Joe’s tongue.

As for his “border czar” Kamala Harris? She seems to have moved on to bigger and better things.

On Monday the vice president delivered remarks at the Vandenberg Air Force in California. Speaking to 200 Space Force service members, Harris informed the crowd that “Space is exciting!” In her typical word salad fashion, Kamala continued, “It spurs our imaginations, and it forces us to ask big questions. Space — it affects us all, and it connects us all.”

It isn’t Harris’ first time droning on about things she knows nothing about. Who can forget her short-lived YouTube series in which she discussed moon craters with paid child actors? Fear not though, I’m sure the vice president is going to get back to “addressing the root causes of migration” soon.

It is hard to choose which is scarier: this administration’s handling of the border, or the fact that 81 million Americans put them in charge of it in the first place.
