Jazz spoil Doncic’s return Florida wins 13th straight

Rudy Gobert gave Utah the lead with an alley-oop dunk with 11.0 seconds left and the Jazz held off the Dallas Mavericks 100-99 on Saturday in Game 4 to tie the first-round series.

Spencer Dinwiddie missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Dallas.

Jordan Clarkson scored 25 points for Utah, Donovan Mitchell added 23 points and seven assists, and Rudy Gobert had 17 points and 15 rebounds — 10 off the offensive glass. Gobert was 3 of 8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and 9 of 18 overall.

Dallas star Luka Doncic scored 30 points, 10 rebounds four assists in his return from a three-game absence because of strained left calf. Jalen Brunson added 23 points, and Dorian Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell and Reggie Bullock had 11 points apiece.

Game 5 is Monday night in Dallas.

Pascal Siakam scored 15 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter, Gary Trent Jr. added 24 points and Toronto beat Philadelph­ia to avoid a fourgame sweep in its first round playoff series.

Brandon Montour scored 2:26 into overtime and the NHL-leading Florida Panthers extended their win streak to a franchise-record 13 games by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Saturday night.

The streak matches the seventh-longest in NHL history and is the league’s longest since Columbus won 16 consecutiv­e games during the 2016-17 season. The victory also marked Florida interim coach Andrew Brunette’s 50th in just 71 games behind the Panthers’ bench.

Lightning 6, Predators 2 — Victor Hedman, Nikita Kucherov and Anthony Cirelli scored in the first period, and the Lightning beat the Predators.

Hedman became the second defenseman in franchise history to score 20 goals in a season, joining Dan Boyle in 2006-07.

Hurricanes 3, Devils 2 —

Rookie Seth Jarvis scored 1:39 into overtime, lifting the Hurricanes to their third straight win.

Carolina trailed 2-0 before Brady Skjei and Nino Niederreit­er scored in the final five minutes of regulation. Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov made 17 saves in winning his NHL debut.

Penguins 7, Red Wings 2 —

Evgeni Malkin scored two goals, leading Pittsburgh to the road win.

Kris Letang had a goal and two assists for the playoffbou­nd Penguins, who won for the third time in four games.

Sabres 5, Islanders 3 — Tage Thompson scored his teamleadin­g 37th goal, and Buffalo beat New York.

Senators 6, Canadiens 4 — Mark Kastelic scored his first two NHL goals, powering Ottawa to the win.

Austin Watson, Josh Norris, Parker Kelly and Alex Formenton also scored for the Senators. Anton Forsberg made 44 saves.
