- By Rick Sobey

Boston Police officers took two guns off the street and made two arrests after responding to a loud party with about 100 guests and a DJ in Dorchester Saturday night.

The officers responded to 35 Dunlap St. at around 11:05 p.m. for a report of a loud party. They ended up arresting 18-year-old Phillip Blain, of Boston, and a 17-year-old boy from Weymouth.

Officers initially responded at 9:30 p.m., to the area of 58 Wheatland Ave., for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers did not see a fight, but found a large party with about 100 guests and a DJ at 35 Dunlap St.

Officers spoke with the homeowner and asked that the DJ turn the music down. The DJ eventually complied.

Then, an hour later, officers responded to a call for a loud party at the same address. Officers asked that the DJ stop playing music, and the party began to wind down.

As officers watched the large crowd leave the party, their attention was drawn to Blain. The officers believed he had a gun “due to several on-scene observations,” police said in a statement.

Officers approached Blain, who was seated inside a motor vehicle, and “observed a prominent bulge under the floor mat at Blain’s feet,” police said.

Blain was removed from the vehicle, and officers found a loaded gun under the floor mat. Officers then removed the driver, a 17-yearold juvenile, and recovered another loaded firearm.

The gun recovered from under Blain was a semi-automatic 9 mm firearm with a magazine capable of holding 30 cartridges. The firearm was loaded with 11 9 mm cartridges and one cartridge in the chamber.

The firearm recovered from the juvenile male was a Jimenez Arms .380 firearm, loaded with five rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

Blain will be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and possession of a large capacity firearm on a public way.

The juvenile will be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

Blain will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court, and the juvenile will be arraigned in Dorchester District Juvenile Court.
