Boys soccer

Juan Pablo Giraldo netted the game-winner with eight minutes left, giving No. 2 Dedham (19-0-3) a 2-1 win over third-seeded Belchertown in a Div. 3 state semifinal.

Girls soccer

Gabby Miranda scored the game-winning goal in overtime as fourth-seeded Algonquin (16-0-6) defeated ninth-seeded Wellesley 2-1 to advance to the Div. 1 state finals.

Abbey Keyes converted a penalty kick in overtime to lift No. 10 Dedham (17-41) past third-seeded Stoneham

3-2 in a Div. 3 state semifinal.

Sienna Mastroianni had a goal and an assist, while Karlee Battista netted the game-winner with two minutes left to give No. 2 Northbridge (17-3-2) a 2-1 win over third-seeded Littleton to advance to the Div. 4 state finals.

Volleyball

Ella Stein and Grace Sorensen each had eight kills as No. 1 Ipswich (20-2) defeated fifth-seeded Weston 3-0 in a Div. 3 state semifinal.

Football

Due to a hazing incident at Haverhill High School, the Hillies have forfeited their Thanksgiving Day game to Lowell. The coaching staff has been put on administrative level and the police have gotten involved in the investigation.

Hockey

Marblehead named Mark Marfione as its new head boys hockey coach. Marfione has coached at a number of schools throughout the Greater Boston area and most recently was the head coach at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.
