RITA MARGARET PIERCE (MAHAN)

-

Rita Margaret Pierce (Mahan) born on Easter Sunday, April 17,1938 lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease with her daughter by her side and surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, February 11, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Rita (Noonan) & Gerard; her twin brother Gerard; her ex-husband William Pierce and her partner in life John Maslauskas. Survived by her brothers James, Paul, John, Thomas and Michael and her children Kim Kimball (Paula), Wayne Conley, William Conley, Robert Pierce (Rachel) and Christine Bromley (Christopher). Rita’s love for her grandchildren (13) and her great grandchildren (10) filled her heart with joy. Rita retired from Marian Manor Nursing Home with over 25 years of service. She loved telling the staff and those she met how she used to work there and tell stories of her times as a worker vs being a resident in the humorous way that only she could do. Many speak of Rita as bright shining star, with an infectious laugh that would brighten the darkest days. An avid reader, scrabble player and loved going to bingo. Known for being a fashionista by her friends and family for her love of her clothes and matching jewelry and all “pretty”things. We are comforted knowing that Ma Rita knows who Ma Rita is again and is without pain. Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Brigid Church 841 E Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127 at 11am Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The family welcomes donations in Rita’s name to Raising a Reader - Massachusetts, 3 School Street 3 rd Floor Boston, MA 02108 or www.raisingareaderma.org as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
