Where’s Pete?

Biden’s Transportation Secretary responds to Ohio disaster … by blaming Trump!

-

Pete Buttigieg has certainly had a historic tenure thus far as Secretary of Transportation. It has been historically disastrous… but historic nonetheless!

It’s hard to keep track of all of the crises that have occurred on Pete’s watch. Some of the scandals that Buttigieg has overseen include the supply chain crisis, the FAA “glitch” and the Southwest meltdown (to name a few).

Come to think of it, “overseen” is not the right word. Most of the time, Pete is completely missing in action. To be fair, he has a very busy schedule that has included flying all over the world on tax-payer funded private jets and hanging with his fellow eco-warriors like Prince Harry.

You know what they say, it’s not easy bein’ green.

However, the calamity in East Palestine, Ohio has made it difficult — even for Democrats — to ignore just how inept Buttigieg is at his job.

It has been more than two weeks since a Norfolk Southern freight train carrying hazardous material derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. Since the toxic spill, residents in the area are struggling to get straight answers about whether or not the water is safe to drink. Some people have reported headaches and rashes since the derailment as well as a frightening amount of dead fish and chickens in the surrounding region.

Minnesota Congresswoman and Squad member Ilhan Omar tweeted, “We need Congressional inquiry and direct action from Secretary Buttigieg to address this tragedy.”

Another Democrat, California Congressman Ro Khanna, told Axios, “These are working class people that feel invisible and abandoned.”

But what did the Left expect from one of Biden’s minions?

Buttigieg’s most impressive qualification for his current position was the fact that he proposed to his husband at O’Hare airport’s gate B5. He is a Harvard grad who can use more academia-approved buzzwords in one sentence than most of us will use in an entire lifetime.

Oddly enough though, none of Pete’s musings on racist highways or the problem with white construction workers seem to be helping with the current situation in Ohio. Go figure.

So what does Pete have to offer?

Eleven days after the initial crash, Pete tweeted a thread to his followers in which he blamed… you guessed it, Former President Donald J. Trump!

Buttigieg, whose name is constantly thrown around as future presidential contender, took to social media to deflect responsibility and pin the crisis on the previous administration.

He wrote, “We’re constrained by law on some areas of rail regulation (like the braking rule withdrawn by the Trump administration in 2018 because of a law passed by Congress in 2015), but we are using the powers we do have to keep people safe.”

Unfortunately for Pete, another member of Biden’s administration, Jennifer Homendy, quickly debunked the Transportation Secretary’s misinformation.

The National Transportation Safety Board Chair explained that people who are claiming that the electronically controlled pneumatic brake rule would have prevented the derailment are spreading misinformation and “misleading a suffering community”.

Homendy elaborated that even if the rule had gone into effect, the train in Ohio would not have had ECP brakes.

Chalk this up as another inconvenient truth for Pete Buttigieg.

Later, in an interview with Yahoo! Finance, Buttigieg had a new tactic on how to avoid accepting responsibility for the derailment. He told the outlet that while Ohio has gotten a “particularly high amount of attention, there are roughly 1,000 cases a year of a train derailing.”

That ought to make the residents in East Palestine breathe a little easier. Sure they might be worried about their children potentially inhaling toxic chemicals or that vinyl chloride is going to seep into their soil, but according to his interview on Yahoo! Finance— these things happen all the time!

To add insult to injury, the mainstream media is trying to run cover for the Biden administration’s abysmal failure.

The New York Times posted a column titled, “‘Chernobyl 2.0’? Ohio Train Derailment Spurs Wild Speculation.”

Alongside the garbage article, the Old Gray Lady tweeted, “After a train carrying toxic material derailed in Ohio this month, Right-wing commentators have been particularly critical of the response, using the crisis to sow distrust about government agencies and suggest that the damage could be irreparable.”

In other words, the government agencies are the real victims in all of this. If only “Right-wing commentators” were as comfortable ignoring and gaslighting Ohioans as the elitist reporters at the New York Times, then maybe Pete and his friends wouldn’t be getting so much backlash. That is the true injustice at hand.

Perhaps if this tragedy were occurring in Ukraine, then our sophisticated elites would be more inclined to care.
