Jack Edwards says he’s ‘healthy’ amid Bruins games absences

The Bruins playing poorly isn’t the only thing that’s different on NESN broadcasts during the last couple of games.

Jack Edwards has been notably missing from the broadcast booth, as play-byplay announcer Alex Faust filled in over the holiday weekend.

Amid Edwards’ absence, rumors have been flying about his future as the playby-play voice for the Bruins. Edwards took to social media to address that speculation on Saturday night.

“Happy Holidays! Contrary to misinformation (imagine that!), I am fit & healthy,” Edwards posted.

“I will not be in the booth for 2 more games: the Ottawa/Philly roady in January,” he added. “I look forward to calling years of Bruins games. I am enjoying a holiday week family vacation. First time in 17 years.”

Some Bruins fans were missing Edwards on the broadcast, while others were giving rave reviews for Faust — who used to be the playby-play voice for the Los Angeles

Kings.

Faust regularly calls NHL games for TNT, and he does play-by-play for college football, college basketball and MLB on Fox Sports. He graduated from Northeastern University, where he received the Jim Nantz Award, which is given to the nation’s top collegiate sports broadcaster.

Some fans were hoping to hear a lot more from Faust down the road after he called the last two games.

“I honestly already knew how good of a broadcaster #NHLBruins Alex Faust is from his years as the tv voice of the #GoKingsGo,” posted Shukri Wrights. “I’m just beyond happy that more Bruins fans are increasingly falling in love with Faust behind the mic on NESN.”

“Alex Faust is so good, man,” another user on X posted. “Really hope he’s in Boston for the long haul.”

“Alex Faust has been doing an exceptional job on PxP so far for the NESN broadcast,” Stanley Cup of Chowder posted. “If Jack ever decides to hang it up, he should be the first, second, third, and then on call for his successor.”
