Dems must let the people decide

-

The Supreme Court ruling blocking states from knocking Donald Trump off the ballot means Democrats have to win the old fashioned way — letting the people vote.

The clear unanimous message to Democrats from the high court should be: stop trying to circumvent democracy. You don’t think your candidate can win on his own?

Come up with a better candidate.

The problem is they don’t have one right now, and they know it.

The courts refuse to stop Trump, and Trump’s Republican opponents are all road kill. Nikki Haley is not likely to win even in supposedly moderate Massachusetts on Tuesday. Trump is likely to sew up the nomination in two weeks and shift his campaign to general election mode, focusing like a laser on Joe Biden.

And don’t forget about Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent and likely to siphon votes away from Biden in November.

Reality may be finally settling in for deluded Democrats who believed they could bounce Trump from the ballot and the world would be saved. It’s clear now that’s not going to happen.

Democrats can fantasize about other indictments and plans to prevent Trump’s electoral votes from getting counted in November, but they are clearly grasping at straws right now.

All those factors could be why CNN’s Jim Acosta looked like his dog died on Monday as he delivered the bad news about the court ruling.

Democrats seem to be increasingly in panic mode, sending out Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday to call for a cease-fire in the MIddle East, and first lady Jill Biden on the attack against Trump.

Harris’s surprise presence on the campaign trail — her first of the year — was designed to appease liberal voters who have been demanding a cease-fire in Gaza and could be in danger of sitting out the election.

But could it also be an early audition for Harris for the top of the ticket?

Six in 10 Americans now think Joe Biden is mentally incapacitated as he goes into his State of the Union address on Thursday night.

There’s only so much the liberal media can do to tilt the race against Trump. CNN can refuse to air Trump giving his speeches all they want, it will only inflame his supporters.

Democrats can try to pump up their vote with ballot harvesting, mail in voting, late voting and early voting and that may not even work.

It’s time to let the people vote.
