Nori notches 100th career hit in Whittier Tech softball win

In a nonleague softball matchup, senior Madi Nori notched her 100th career hit as Whittier defeated Blackstone Valley, 5-3.

Alexis Anthony and Sadie Putnam threw a combined 4-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Methuen (3-0) defeated Lowell 22-1 in the Merrimack Valley Conference. Allyssa Cassidy went 4-for-4 with five RBI. Ari Baez, Bella Medeiros and Putnam each had three hits for the Rangers.

Baseball

In the opening round of the Brian F. O’Donnell Memorial Tournament, Cam Fryar and Nate Hackett each had three hits, while Logan Schipper didn’t allow an earned run in 3.2 innings as Pembroke defeated Cohasset, 17-7.

In the other game John Reynolds went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Nate Tiani had two hits and an RBI as Hull rolled past Blue Hills, 15-6.

Ty Gilmore allowed three hits as Georgetown (4-0) defeated Hamilton-Wenham 11-1 in the Cape Ann League. Jake Gilbo went 2-for-2 with three RBI, while Jake Gilstein added two hits and two RBI for the Royals.

Stefan Alexandov had the game-winning triple as Cambridge (2-1) edged Lowell 4-3 in a nonleague contest. … Pat Cummings notched two hits with three RBI while Ryan Solimini added a pair of hits and two runs scored as Abington doubled up Weston 10-5.

In the Hockomock League, Max Robison drove in three with a pair of hits and a run scored as King Philip outslugged Foxboro 12-4. … Matt Miller threw just 75 pitches in a one-hitter with eight strikeouts as Franklin blanked Sharon 3-0.

Boys lacrosse

In a nonleague game, Will Carey recorded a goal and four assists to lead Masconomet past Peabody, 11-5. …Oliver Rice scored four goals, while Nolan Petrucelli and Joe McCarthy added three apiece as Norwell defeated Westford Academy, 14-1.

Ramona Gillett had six goals and an assist, while teammate Maddie Forbes added five goals and an assist Marblehead (1-3) defeated Danvers 16-7 in the Northeaste­rn Conference.

In the Merrimack Valley Conference, Brooke Carter, Kieran Fitzpatric­k and Kate Kitzpatric­k all scored four times as Methuen took down Dracut 18-8.
