Bishop Feehan hands King Philip first loss

Mylee Ramer fans 11 in 6-0 win

The fact that Bishop Feehan coach Bill Milot did not consider Monday’s performance the best of the season for pitcher Mylee Ramer says quite a bit about how well the latter has thrown so far.

As it turned out, in a 6-0 win over King Philip, Ramer still pitched plenty well enough as the Shamrocks softball team evened their record at 2-2.

It was the first loss for King Philip, which fell to 4-1.

In the victory, Ramer went the distance, struck out 11 batters, allowed four hits, walked none, and allowed just one other runner on an error in the shutout.

“Mmm, no,” Milot said on if it was Ramer’s best game yet. “Against (Bishop) Fenwick she struck out 18, walked one, allowed one hit. She didn’t have any walks today, though, right? So I’d say it’s right up there with it. They were both phenomenal efforts. We know Mylee’s a good pitcher, but once we saw her get in that groove, get a little run support, when you realize she’s cruising right now.”

Ramer had a different take.

“It felt amazing. We were so hyped, our energy, the whole thing,” Ramer said. “Everything was there. That was a lot better than the Fenwick game. It was so good.”

Offensively, Feehan got five of their runs on home runs from Arli Rodriguez (a three-run shot) and Madi Narducci (a two-run blast) as the Shamrocks gave Ramer more than enough support.

“Arli’s definitely been struggling,” Milot said. “Great to see her get that home run. Narducci, that was a great shot, too, down the left-field line.”

With Ramer taking care of the KP batters, Feehan found the offense early. Narducci led off the bottom of the second with a single to center. She moved to second on a walk by Rodriguez. They each moved up on a fielder’s choice, and then Bella Silva reached on an error to plate Narducci.

Then, in the third, Callie Murray and Olivia Abren reached on a walk and infield hit, respectively, before Rodriguez crushed one to left for the two-out, threerun shot as Feehan led, 4-0.

In the fifth, Abren reached again, this time on a single to right, and Narducci lifted one over the fence in left to complete the scoring.

In the third and the fifth, Ramer left runners in scoring position, as she struck out batters to end the threat in both frames. She sent the batters down in order in the final two innings, and ended the game on a strikeout.
