BEDFORD >> Junior Alyx Rossi starred on the mound and at the plate to deliver another victory for the Bedford High softball team Friday afternoon.

Not only did she throw a one-hitter, but she also was perfect at the plate while driving in both runs in a 2-0 nonleague win over Triton.

“(Rossi) is just go all the time,” said Buccaneers coach Dennis Walsh. “She literally goes all out at practice. We’ve got to tell her to tone it down sometimes. … She just wants to go all the time.”

Rossi retired eight of the first 10 batters by strikeout before allowing a bunt single just over her glove for her first hit allowed this season.

She then struck out two more to have 10 through four frames. She retired the final 11 batters with the final seven via strikeout. She finished with 18 K’s on the day.

She also got the offense started with an RBI double in the bottom of the first that scored Addi Poulter, who reached on an error, to make it 1-0.

“It definitely helps to have my team cheering me on and making sure that even if I strike out that I still have good energy and I’m coming back to people that are going to support me either way,” said Rossi about her performance at the plate.

In the fourth, she cranked a 2-0 pitch over the center field wall to make it 2-0 for Bedford (4-0).

“(Rossi) just wants to rip,” Walsh said about the junior. “She wants to get up there. … She’s just so powerful. She’s got power. She’s awesome.”

For Triton (2-2), junior Emma Penniman struck out 12 with only one earned run allowed while also go- ing the distance.
