Age 64, passed away in her home on September 29, 2022, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow until 2:00 p.m. at the Dunbar Funeral Home located at 4219 Hardscrabb­le Road, COLUMBIA, South Carolina 29223.

Ellen was born in Arlington, Massachuse­tts on April 11, 1958 to Joseph and Eleanor (Lynch) Terra.

Ellen graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, Massachuse­tts and attended Suffolk University in Boston, Massachuse­tts before she moved to New York City, New York.

She worked in banking and financial trading exchanges for the majority of her life. Ellen relocated to Columbia, South Carolina in 2009 to be closer to her youngest sister, Mary Reardon, and niece, Megan Reardon. Ellen frequently cared for Megan when her mother traveled for work or training. She lived in Northeast Columbia and Forest Acres before residing with her “big sister,” Denise Eron in 2012. Ellen savored coffee and wine and enjoyed trips to the coast with the “Vino Sisters.”

Ellen was full of life, with a strong wit and happy smile. She never knew a stranger and enjoyed chatting with her colleagues and customers while working at the Original Pancake

House, Carolina Wings, Blue Ginger, Publix, and Wasabi in Columbia, South Carolina. Ellen also had a kind heart for all and an affinity for animals. She was everyone’s favorite pet sitter as she easily establishe­d rapport and intuited each creature’s needs.

In addition to her parents, Ellen is predecease­d by her paternal grandparen­ts, Charles and Ann (Philbin) Terravecch­ia; her maternal grandparen­ts, Hugh and Ellen (Doherty) Lynch; her nephew, Robert Bateman, Jr., and niece, Soraya Bateman.

Those left to cherish Ellen’s memory include her brother, Mark Terra, and his wife, Katie, of New York; her sister, Anne Terra, of Massachuse­tts; her sister, Katherine Ralph, and her husband, Wayne, of Texas; her sister, Mary Reardon, of South Carolina; her brother, John Terra, and his wife, Catherine, of Texas; and several nieces and nephews to include Patrick Terra of Alaska; Stephanie Terra of Minnesota; Tamara Ralph of Texas; Shannon Ralph of Texas; Ensign Nathan Ralph of Texas/Florida; Ensign Megan Reardon of South Carolina/Japan; Captain Mhairi Terra of Texas/Germany; and Mark Terra of Texas.
