Thomas Brown
Chelmsford, sophomore
The heavyweight left no doubt this winter, going 62-0, winning through the postseason, including nationals. He’s the first freshman heavyweight to win All-States and first sophomore heavyweight to take New Englands.
Brayton Carbone
Shawsheen, sophomore
A three-sport athlete, Carbone is an All-State champion wrestler and a D5 football finalist who plays lacrosse in the spring. In a tough field at 120 pounds, he went 54-6 his sophomore year and passed the 100-win threshold.
Luke Connolly
Northeast, junior
The 145-pound junior went 52-7 on the season, taking D2 North, finishing runner-up at states, third at All-States, and placing at New Englands. A football and wrestling captain, Connolly hopes to play football in college.
Jaclyn Dehney
Central Catholic, senior
Dehney’s wrestling resume speaks for itself: 101 high school wins. Two Super 32 titles. Fourth place at D1 North sectionals and fifth at D1 states at 120 pounds. In 2021: Pan Am gold medalist, world team trials finalist, and Fargo finalist.
Sydney Diauto
Silver Lake, senior
The senior capped a 24-14 co-ed wrestling season with a girls’ state title via a first-period pin in the 106-pound finals. She added a championship at the Phillips Andover Tournament. She is also a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion.
Rawson Iwanicki
St. John’s Prep, senior
With a 190-5 high school record, the Columbia-bound senior didn’t suffer a loss since his freshman year. A three-time Academic AllAmerican and two-time All-American wrestler, he repeated as New England champion at 160 pounds.
Drew McGourty
Braintree, junior
The junior broke through to become Braintree’s first All-State champion, losing just once all year at 152 pounds, when he took third place at New Englands. McGourty has compiled an 84-8 record, and trains at MetroWest United.
Matt Harrold
Haverhill, freshman
The first Hillie to be crowned state champion as a freshman, the 220pounder fought his way to third at All-States, made a run to the New England finals, and added AllAmerican status, going 66-8 in his first season.
Yandel Morales
Andover, freshman
An All-American as a freshman, the 106-pounder went 57-2, taking postseason titles all the way up to a third-place finish at New Englands. Morales already owns 97 victories and was the MVC Wrestler of the Year this winter.
Brent Nicolosi
Haverhill, junior
The 160-pounder’s only New England postseason losses were to Rawson Iwanicki, as Nicolosi took third at All-States and second at New Englands. The honor student is a two-time All-American, adding a third-place finish at nationals.
Sara McLaughlin
Scituate, freshman
The freshman 113 pounder won her second girls’ All-State title without conceding a single point, and was a folkstyle national champion at 16-and-under. The 14-year old has 62 MIAA career wins and is a three-time All-American.
Alex Schaeublin
St. John’s Prep, senior
The Trinity-bound senior had a season to remember at 113 pounds, going 58-1, with his only loss in the New England finals. A wrestling All-American and two-time Academic All-American, Schaeublin was 131-6 on the mat.
Gabriel Thomasson
Norton, senior
Fighting through shoulder surgery and three knee surgeries in his career, the senior finally grabbed his chance to place in the postseason, taking a state championship and second at All-States. The honor roll student went 21-3 on the season.
James Tildsley
Shawsheen, freshman
The only eighth grader to place at New Englands, Tildsley followed up the achievement with a great freshman year, leading the Rams in tackles in the fall and going 61-3 on the mat this winter. The 132pounder won D1 states.
Sid Tildsley
Shawsheen, sophomore
The 138-pounder became the first wrestler in state history to win two New England championships in his first two years of high school, going 132-1 so far. The sophomore quarterbacked the state finalist Rams, and he runs track.
Jayden Toppan
Gloucester, junior
The junior went 54-3, taking postseason titles from sectionals through All-States at 220 pounds. Toppan became the second Gloucester wrestler to reach 100 wins before his senior season. He was the NEC Wrestler of the Year.
Nora Quitt
Ashland, junior
The first All-State champion representing Ashland, the 138-pounder went 19-15 against boys and 11-0 against girls, helping the Clockers to a Tri-Valley title. The junior also runs track and is interested in pursuing a career in exercise science.
