GUSTAFSON, Carroll Bentley Jr.
Died on December 6, 2023, at age 90, at Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA, after a fall at home.
Carroll (“Gus”) was born in Cambridge, MA on April 15, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll B. Gustafson and Hildegarde A. Gustafson; and his wife of 31 years, Carole Ann Moberg Gustafson. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Kathleen Tucker-Gustafson; his children, Ben (Claudia), Sue (Kevin), and Beth (Tim); he loved and was proud of his grandchildren, Ashley (Mike), Ellie, Chase, Lucas, Miranda; and his great-granddaughters, Nora and Emmy. He is survived by siblings, Emilie; and her children and grandchildren, Peter (Judy) and David (Amefil); and by his in-law families, Robert, Mary, Paul, Brian and Joseph; and their children and grandchildren.
Gus graduated from Arlington High School in 1951 and attended MIT for two years. He served our country in the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth, NJ. His final position was with Armor Elevator Co., later Kone Corp., as an electrical technician. He retired to cultivate interests, gardening, music and his antique home.
Gus was a faithful member of Groveland Congregational Church, a member of the adult and chime choirs, taught Sunday School and served terms as Trustee and Deacon. Maintaining the buildings and grounds helped him to stay healthy and vibrant. He thrived on creating community, worked with the Groveland Council on Aging and the joy of music with choir and the Newburyport Choral Society. He leaves us with a legacy of kind and loving care for the world.
The family will receive friends at the Groveland Congregational Church, 4 King St., Groveland, MA, on Saturday, April 20, at 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
