Of Osterville, Massachuse­tts, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, after complicati­ons with pneumonia. Pete is survived by his two sons and five grandchild­ren, J. Andrew Ingram, his wife, Wendy Thomas Ingram; and granddaugh­ters, Molly and Nellie; and John R. Ingram, his partner, Diana P. Walcott; and three children, Sarah, Luke and William. Pete is also survived by his sister, Joan I. Thorndike of Brookline. Pete’s wife, Ellen Humphreys Ingram, predecease­d him on February 8, 2024.

Pete was born in Bronxville, New York on June 5, 1940. He graduated from Sewickley Academy, Westminste­r School and Hobart College. After college, he served in the Intelligen­ce branch of the U.S. Army. He started his business career in Boston at R.M. Bradley, working in commercial real estate. In 1987, he began working at Cambridge Savings Bank and from 1998 to 2005, served as its President and CEO. While at Cambridge Savings Bank, Pete oversaw the acquisitio­n of Bank 5 for Savings, the creation of Cambridge Appleton Trust Co. and the purchase and renovation of the historic Read Block at the center of Harvard Square.

Pete was a loving and caring father, husband and brother. He was deeply compassion­ate and focused on providing for his family. During his physically active years, Pete was an avid golfer and won two Senior Club Championsh­ips at The Country Club. Known for his sense of humor and dry wit, Pete would always light up a room with laughter often aided by his infectious laugh.

Pete, “Dad” and “Pops” will be dearly missed by his family, friends, caddies and loved ones. A Memorial Service, for both Ellen and Pete, will be held at St. Andrew’s by the Sea in Hyannis Port, Massachuse­tts, at 11:00 am, on June 8, 2024.
