Concetta J. Spinale Birthday Announcement, 104 years

-

Happy 104th Birthday, Connie! We celebrate you and thank you for being an inspiration to all of us. Your zest for life has taught us to make the most of every experience and be lifelong learners.

Connie was born on February 28,1920 in Boston, MA and lived in the West End and Boston suburbs. She later resided in Medford, MA for over 50 years. Since the Covid Pandemic, Connie has lived with her niece and family in Wilmington, MA, but still returns weekly to the Medford Senior Center to see her friends and play BINGO.

Connie has had hardships and adversity in her life, but worked hard and persevered. She studied at Burdett College and pursued a career in the business world in Boston, where she held positions as secretary, bookkeeper, assistant controller and office manager. Throughout her life, Connie continued to take college courses and travelled the world.

Her hobbies have included videography, painting, calligraphy, cooking and sewing.

Volunteer work has always been important to Connie, whether in local politics or community projects. Well into her 80s, she became a certified tutor for Proliteracy America. Connie especially enjoyed her work with The Knitting Connection in Medford. She found it very fulfilling to make warm winter clothing for children in need. Connie has always been very involved in the nurturing of her family. She has instilled a love for learning in her nieces and nephews through frequent trips to museums, theaters and historic places. A favorite destination was the Medford Public Library, where they would explore the world through books and arts and crafts.

Connie leads by example, with grace, compassion, kindness and love. We wish you another great year, Connie!
