Food & Wine has announced the winners of its annual Global Tastemaker Awards, and several New England hot spots made the cut.

As part of the magazine’s list of top 20 restaurants in the United States, Aragosta in Deer Isle, Maine, came in at No. 2. The farm-to-table restaurant, which has been a Maine mainstay for over a decade, is open seasonally and is part of a beachside inn at Goose Cove run by chef and owner Devin Finigan.

Food & Wine writer Chadner Navarro praises Aragosta’s Finigan for taking “the finest hauls from the region’s farmers and fishermen” and transforming them into creative dishes, such as the “bowls of lobster bisque around which a speck-wrapped lobster tail sits.” Finigan, who has cooked with culinary icons like Thomas Keller, is no stranger to accolades; she was named a semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast in the 2020 James Beard awards.

Food & Wine’s Global Tastemaker Awards also recognized Portland on its list of 10 top US cities for food and drinks, with the Maine city coming in at No. 9. New York City earned the top spot on the best food and drinks cities list; Boston didn’t get a nod.

Meanwhile, Twin Farms in Barnard, Vt., was given the No. 3 spot on the magazine’s list of 10 top US hotels for food and drinks. The lux resort has racked up quite a few awards over the years as well, earning five stars from Forbes once again this year. Twin Farms also made Travel + Leisure’s annual world’s best awards list in 2022.

Despite Boston and the Bay State getting shut out of most categories, Rowes Wharf Bar at the Boston Harbor Hotel earned the No. 12 spot on Food & Wine’s list of 15 top hotel bars in the US.
