Age 77, of Onset, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, surrounded by family.

Richard, who was known as “Richie,” is survived by his three children, Brian Cunniff and his wife, Rebecca of Ashland, Kristen Lombardo and her husband, David of Framingham and Lisa Dirstine and her husband, Michael of Harvard; ten grandchild­ren, William, Jake, Nicholas, Ava, Kiley, Tess, Drew, Jack, Finn and Hollis; his sister, Mary Cunniff of West Roxbury; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Richie was predecease­d by his brothers, William F., Robert and James.

Richie grew up in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston. He was the beloved son of William and Anne (Foley) Cunniff. Richie worked in the local plumbers union for years before he successful­ly built and operated his own plumbing company. He lived in Framingham for over 40 years and later, resided in Onset, MA.

Richie was a lifelong, avid golfer and a 35-year member of Marlboroug­h Country Club. He equally loved fishing out in Buzzards Bay. Richie’s perfect day would include golfing, fishing, happy hour, friends, family and laughs.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm, at the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., MARLBOROUG­H, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, at 11 am, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlboroug­h, MA. Following cremation, a private Burial will be held at a later date.
