James Gregory to headline GEM Theatre stage

dubbed the Funniest Man in America, will be performing on the GEM stage on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7: 30 pm.

For more than two decades, Gregory has been entertaining audiences with his comedy. James does not tiptoe through life as if he’s walking on broken glass or eggshells. That style is evident on stage as well. He is not politically correct. Much of his humor is centered on brilliant observations of crazy relatives and people obsessed with the slightest change in weather conditions- now referred to as global warming. He delights in poking fun at modern sensitive parents and out- ofcontrol environmentalists. Gregory has been quoted as saying, ” If you want me to be concerned about endangered species, you need to convince me that we’re about out of chickens.”

Gregory’s critically acclaimed One Man Show, “Grease, Gravy & John Wayne’s Momma” was sponsored by HBO and featured at the U. S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. In addition, he is best known for his first album and book, “It Could be a Law, I Don’t Know.” He is featured on more than 200 radio shows during morning and afternoon drive time throughout the year, every year.

James’ success, like his comedy, is the direct result of the values he grew up with. And now, 20 years later, it is this unique brand of humor that packs the crowds into his soldout shows. The absence of vulgarity sets James apart and his stories are carefully crafted art. “I have lived long enough to know people, know life,” Gregory reflects. “My comedy is based on my life expectations. It’s real, it’s funny and the audience loves it. That’s why I’m still in business.”

Local comedian Joni Harbin will open for Gregory, doing a short set before he takes the main stage. Harbin will be starring in her own show on Dec. 19 at the GEM Theatre as well.

Tickets for the James Gregory Show are on sale now for $ 20 and $ 25. Price of tickets increase $ 5 the night of the show.
