Martha Cleveland

Martha Frances Carr Cleveland, of Calhoun, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Martha was born on Aug. 31, 1953. She grew up in Alexander City, Ala. and loved visiting local Lake Martin. Martha was a graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, Auburn University, and she also held a master’s degree. She served for many years as a teacher in the Calhoun City School system.

Survivors include her children, two brothers and their families.

A service to honor Martha will be held at Hillview Memorial Park in Alexander City, Ala. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Calhoun First United Methodist Church where Martha was a faithful member.

Patrick Black

Patrick Black, age 41, of Calhoun, died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Gordon Hospital following an unexpected illness.

Patrick was born Feb. 1, 1975 in Cobb County, son of Karen Black Haygood and the late Gary Wayne Haygood. He was recently employed by Foam Products of Calhoun and had lived in Gordon County four years.

He had resided in Cartersvil­le before moving to Calhoun.

Patrick loved fishing and to his family was a “Giant Teddy-Bear”. He was a man with a big heart and through his life had done wrong to no one.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Haygood of Calhoun; one sister, Amy Kuykendall of Calhoun; nephews, Devon Jenkins of Calhoun, Blakeston Kuykendall of Kennesaw; niece, Taylor FaristMyer­s of Cartersvil­le; great niece, Kensleigh Myers of Cartersvil­le; cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. Family members and friends presided. The family received friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to offset final expenses.

Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangemen­ts for the services of Patrick Black.

Mechelle Schinall

Mechelle Lee Schinall, age 49, of Calhoun, died at 4:50 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Gordon Hospital.

Mechelle was born on Dec. 14, 1966 in Douglasvil­le, a daughter of the late Lawrence Albert “Buster” Schinall and Patricia Ann Payton Schinall. She had lived in Gordon County for over 30 years and was a Baptist.

She is survived by one son, Jeffery Wolfenbarg­er and his wife, Amanda, of Calhoun; one brother, Richard Tony Schinall of Louisiana; three sisters, Sheila Schrener, Linda Schinall, and Phyllis Grennan; one sister-in-law, Dawn Henderson of Chatsworth; two grandchild­ren, Alexa Wolfenbarg­er of Calhoun and Donaven Wolfenbarg­er of Whitfield County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Mershell Shawn Ingle officiatin­g; Jennifer Baker will have charge of music and burial will be in Cooper Cemetery. The family received friends on Tuesday from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

Mr. Lloyd “Bobby” Dale, age 72, of Dalton, departed this life Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the local hospital. Bobby was born March 26, 1944 in Ellijay, a son of the late Hershel Dale and Della Newton Newberry. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Jerry Dale.

He is survived by his loving wife, Renee Dale of the residence; daughter, Anita Lynn Johnson of Cocoa, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Dena Payne of Dalton; sisters and brothers-inlaw, Lou and George Wheat, Peggy Dale of Dalton, Deckie and Sonny Harwell of Jacksonvil­le, Fla., Debra and Greg Noland of Chatsworth; granddaugh­ter, Rebecca Nicole Salster; nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lloyd “Bobby” Dale will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Guffey and Reverend Robert Beavers officiatin­g. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church after 10 a.m. until the service hour.

Alawee Wilson

Mrs. Alawee G. Wilson, age 83, of Hall Station Road, Adairsvill­e, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2016 at Gordon Hospital.

She was born in Floyd County on Nov. 10, 1932. She cherished her family and all the memories they made. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed working in the bakery department at Ingles, doing crossword puzzles, and going shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, Norman Troy Wilson, Sr.; sons, Joseph Huggins and Timothy Huggins; stepson, Lamar Wilson; grandchild­ren, Jody Huggins and Jennifer Wilson.

Survivors include her loving son and daughter-in-law, Norman Troy Wilson, Jr. and Kay Wilson of Adairsvill­e; stepchildr­en, Kenny Wilson, Danny Wilson, Lanny Wilson, Brenda Byrd, Larry Wilson, Sr., Pat Whitfield and Judy Haney; grandchild­ren, Ashley Wilson Yarbrough, Cody Hammonds, Autumn Barton Stokes, Sonja Silvers, Marissa Huggins, Rhonda Babb, Keisha Vogues, Tyler Haney, Kelly Wilson Parker, Christy Wilson Simpson, Cindy Wilson Brent, Stacey Leigh, Larry Wilson, Jr; Anthony Jackson, Glenn Wilson, Jr., Sabrina Wilson, Josh Wilson, Chrystal Wilson Hiles, Kimberlee Redwine and Tracy Jackson; 40 great-grandchild­ren, 9 great greatgrand­children and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsvill­e with Pastor Ken Coomer officiatin­g. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsvill­e at a later date.

Chris Walker

Christophe­r Shane “Chris” Walker, age 29 of Ranger, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his residence.

Chris was born on Aug. 29, 1986 in Gordon County to Robert Walker and Lavonda Springfiel­d Walker. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gunner Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Lesley Harstine Walker of Ranger; son, Gavin Thomas Walker of Calhoun; parents, Robert and Lavonda Springfiel­d Walker; grandmothe­r, Bonnie Walker of Calhoun; two brothers, Wayne Joseph Springfiel­d and his wife, Laura, of Rydal, and Jeremy Derek Springfiel­d and his wife, Katie, of Rydal; two nieces, Emma Springfiel­d and Ellie-Kate Harstine; four nephews, Owen Springfiel­d, Sawyer Springfiel­d, Wyatt Springfiel­d and Waylon Harstine; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and many brothers-in-arms who served in the United States Army in Iraq and Iran.

Memorial Services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Bishop and Reverend Roy Davis officiatin­g. Pallbearer­s will be Henry Harstine, Stephen Hughey, Chad Temple, Dewayne Junkins, Max Gable, Steven Marlow, and Keith Pack.
