Obama’s racism

-

Around ten days ago, President Obama gave the commencement address at Howard University, which is a prominent, all black university. I did not hear all of the speech but Fox News played the beginning, which showed the way that the President started the speech. He acknowledged that Howard University was a major black university. He then advised the graduating class to be proud of the fact that they are black.

What would happen if a white president went to a predominately white university and told the class that they should be proud of the fact that they are white? The media and the politicians would jump on this president and try to drive him out of office. When President Obama does this it is a one day blurb on Fox News and none of the other networks mention it at all. President Obama was not elected by black people. They voted for him but his majority vote came from white people who wanted to prove that we are not racist. Any time now that any white person disagrees with the president on any policy issue, the press and the Democrat Party quickly accuses them of being racist.

We did not choose our race. We cannot change our race. We are what we are. There are advantages and disadvantages in being whatever race we are. No one should be treated differently because of their race. I have worked with many different races. I have good friends of many different races. We laugh at the same stories. We like a lot of the same foods. In India and in Malaysia I have friends whose young daughters call me Uncle Ken. Some of my closest friends in Saudi Arabia were black. Some of the most intelligent men in the factory were black. None of us are superior to the others because of our race.

The most practical subject for a speech at a commencement function is the opportunity that is facing stop the team from playing because of the black player. The students at Georgia Tech demonstrated and burned the governor in effigy. They were trying to teach us to be racist but it did not work. Today a large portion of the students are either black or female and some are both. The opposite of racism and sexism are being taught today.

Young people need to learn quickly that success does not come because of race. Success comes because of effort. The color of your skin does not affect your brain’s ability to think. In traveling around a major part of the world and I have encountered brilliant people in every nation and of many different races. I am white but it did not take long to learn that did not make me the smartest man in the room. I was Vice President of a knit deknit yarn dyeing company at one time. Matching new colors meant stopping production and using the production machine to run samples to match the colors. I took the black first shift machine operator and made him our first laboratory manager with the job of matching new colors. Within a few days he began to bring me samples that looked like they had come through the dyeing range. They were good matches and they saved us a lot of money because we could keep the dyeing machine running production. I went to the laboratory area and asked him to show me how he was doing this. What I saw were techniques that I would not have thought of that were very effective. Later on one of my consulting projects I used what this young black man had taught me to produce samples for my client.

There are black preachers like Rev. T. D. Jakes and Rev. S. M. Lockridge that I have followed over the years that taught me things in every sermon that I heard that would never have entered my mind. Politicians like the president should forget skin color and treat everyone as if skin color did not matter.
