THE STORYLINE:

-Kennesaw State used a seven-run outburst in the sixth inning to push past Stetson in the series finale, taking the Atlantic Sun Conference clash on Sunday afternoon at Stillwell Stadium, 10-1.

-KSU backed AJ Moore’s (4-3) performanc­e on the mound with a 16-hit outburst that scored 10 runs to earn its sixth-straight conference series.

-With the win, the Owls improved to 26-25 overall and 14-4 in ASUN action, while Stetson dropped to 25-26 overall and 9-9 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Deadlocked at 11 through four innings, Kennesaw State scored a single run in the fifth thanks to an RBI off junior Corey Greeson’s bat, before a decisive seven-run sixth to propel the Owls past the Hatters.

-In the frame, the Owls brought 12 batters to the dish and scattered seven hits, and capitalize­d on a fielding error that rallied off six unearned runs.

-Five different Owls produced at least one RBI in the frame, as Austin Upshaw’s tworun double, senior Brennan Morgan, junior Jeremy Howell, Jordan Getzelman and Greeson all knocked in runs in the inning to push their lead to 9-1.

-Upshaw’s fourth RBI of the ballgame in the seventh extended the Owls’ lead to 10-1, which marked their largest of the game.

-Offensivel­y, eight of the nine starters produced at least one hit on the day. Corey Greeson (3-for-6, RBI), Brennan Morgan (3-for-3, two RBI), Austin Upshaw (2for-3, four RBI), Jordan Getzelman (2-for-5) and David Chabut (3-for-5) combined for 13 hits and seven RBI.

-Moore, who earned the win, tossed 7.2 solid innings in his 12th start of the season. The righty allowed one run on eight hits, and striking out six batters.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-David Chabut extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the fourth inning.

-Since April 6, senior Brennan Morgan only has two games without a hit.

-With Williams’ double in the fifth, the sophomore has extended his hitting streak to nine games.

-For the 30th time this season, the Owls have produced 10 or more hits in a single ballgame.

-Kennesaw State’s magic number is two with three games remaining to claim the regular season title.
