SWIM LESSONS AT CALHOUN AQUATIC CENTER

— The Calhoun Aquatic Center will offer SwimAmeric­a Swim Lessons starting this summer. SwimAmeric­a is a national learn to swim program operated by the American Swimming Coaches Associatio­n, teaching new swimmers to enjoy swimming through great techniques. Annual registrati­on fee is $25 per family and cost per session is $75. There are five different sessions scheduled for this summer with Session 1 going from May 31-June 9, Session 2 June 13-June 23, Session 3 June 27-July 7, Session 4 July 11-July 21 and Session 5 July 25Aug. 4. The class sizes will be held to a teacher to swimmer ratio of 1 to 5 and the group lesson schedule is 11-11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12-12:30 p.m. for morning classes, 3:30-4 p.m., 4-4:30 p.m. and 4:30-5 p.m. for afternoon classes, 6:45-7:15 p.m. and 7:157:45 p.m. for evening classes and 10:30-11 a.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. for parent toddler classes. DIVING PROGRAM AT CALHOUN AQUATIC CENTER

— The Nitros will offer competitiv­e diving at the Calhoun Aquatic Center for several different age groups, including high school and novice divers. The program is open to anyone interested in the northwest Georgia area. All levels and abilities are welcome to join — athletes four years old and up with the pre-requisite of being able to swim in deep water. The Calhoun Aquatic Center has two Dura-Flex Diving Boards and the diving program will compete in USA and AAU Diving. The program will be led by Phil Lesselroth, the current head diving coach at the McCallie School. Practice days will be Sundays 4:30-5:45 p.m. Annual registrati­on fee is $50 and monthly fee is $75 per person. The program starts June 5. CLEVELAND STATE BASEBALL SUMMER TOURNAMENT­S

— The Cleveland State Community College baseball program will host a series of summer tournament­s at the college in Cleveland, Tenn. There will be a 16-under tournament June 4-5 (enter by May 13), an 18-under tournament June 10-12 (enter by May 20), a 15-under tournament June 18-19 (enter by May 27) and a 14-under and 13-under tournament June 25-26 (enter by June 3). The 15-under tournament and 16-under tournament will be three (3) games pool play and championsh­ip. The cost for the tournament­s is $375. The 18-under tournament will be four (4) games pool play and championsh­ip. The cost for this tournament is $475. The 14-under and 13-under tournament will be three (3) games pool play and championsh­ip. The cost for this tournament is $300. Tournament­s will be played under the Tennessee high school rules. GORDON CENTRAL YOUTH SOFTBALL CAMP

— The Gordon Central High softball program and head coach Maddie Monroe will host a youth softball camp June 13-17 at the high school softball field. The Camp is for rising 1st-8th graders with 1st-4th going each day from 9-11 a.m. and 5th-8th going each day from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Early registrati­on is $30 per camper, and walk-up registrati­on is $35. — The EFX Volleyball Skills Camp will be held at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Department Gym June 20-22. EFX coaches are talented and experience­d in the sport. Multiple state titles, college and nationally recognized club experience gives EFX Volleyball some of the most well-rounded coaches in the game. PADDLE GEORGIA AND CANOE TUG-O-WARS IN CALHOUN

— On Wednesday, June 22, Paddle Georgia is invading downtown Calhoun. The invasion will feature a street party at the Calhoun Depot with music, food, canoe and kayak rides and canoe tug-o-wars. Festivitie­s begin at 5:30 p.m.; the event is open to the public. The party is part of Georgia River Network’s annual Paddle Georgia taking place June 1824 on the Conasauga and Oostanaula rivers. More than 400 people are expected for the 7-day, 103-mile canoe and kayak adventure that begins near Chatsworth and ends in downtown Rome. Canoe tug-o-wars in a massive portable pool provided by event sponsor Cedar Creek Park and Outdoor Center in Cave Spring will highlight the Calhoun street party. In these events two canoes are tied end-toend and three-person, co-ed teams try to paddle pull their opponents across the pool. A double-eliminatio­n tournament will determine the tug champions. Registrati­on for the tug-o- wars is $25 for each four-person team. Each team must include at least one woman. All proceeds will benefit New Echota Rivers Alliance, a Calhoun-based citizen group working to protect the Coosawatte­e, Conasauga and Oostanaula rivers. SONORAVILL­E VOLLEYBALL CAMP

— The Sonoravill­e High Volleyball program will host their annual youth volleyball camp to teach basic volleyball skills July 18-20 from 4-6 p.m. each day for 3rd-8th graders. The camp will be held at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Complex Gym. Cost is $30 per camper and checks should be made payable to SHS Volleyball. All campers will receive a Sonoravill­e High Volleyball t-shirt, and prizes will be awarded to top campers.
