Alice Blackwell

Mrs. Alice Faye Blackwell, age 75, of Ranger, departed this life Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born Aug. 1, 1941 in Fort Oglethorpe, a daughter of the late John Floyd and Eva Rouse Williams.

She is survived by husband, John Paul Blackwell of the residence; daughters and son- in- law, Sandra Messex of Calhoun, Darlene and Danny Childers of Ranger; sons and daughter-in-law, Rickey Carnes of Fairmount, Michael and Kyla Blackwell of St. Marys, Kan.; brothers and sisterin-law, Floyd and Peggy Williams, David Williams all of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchild­ren, Miranda and Jake Stowers, Dustin and Wendy Patterson, Bernadette and John Mueller, Catherine Blackwell, Raymond Blackwell, Faustina Blackwell, Justina Blackwell, Bernard Blackwell, Genevieve Blackwell, Sebastian Blackwell, Gianna Blackwell and Michael Blackwell; greatgrand­children, Jacob and Christian Stephens, Briley and Maisie Jenkins and Sawyer Patterson; several nieces and nephews. Timothy Jacobsen

Timothy Jacobsen, age 57, of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Gordon Hospital.

Timothy was born on Dec. 2, 1958 in Chicago, Ill. to Joyce Adelle Reichel Jacobsen the late Arnold Ralph Jacobsen. He was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church, former assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts Troup # 22, and founding member of Outrageous Beardsman Koalition.

He is survived by his son, Jarryn Jacobsen of Calhoun; mother, Joyce Jacobsen of Calhoun; three brothers, Jeffrey Jacobsen and his wife, Gail, of Calhoun, Brian Jacobsen and his wife, Teresa, of Calhoun, and Keith Jacobsen and his wife, Cheryl, of Clawson, Mich.; and nephew, Steven Jacobsen.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Pearson officiatin­g. Amy Rickett and Travis Stephens will have charge of music.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:30 p.m. until the funeral hour at 5:30 p.m.at Thomas Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributi­ons be made to the Mountain Top Boy’s Home at 65 Mountain Top Way, Sugar Valley, GA 30746.

Larry Anderson

Mr. Larry Paul Anderson, 46, of Calhoun, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Franklin County on June 14, 1970, son of David and Fran Moore Anderson. He was preceded in death by grandparen­ts, William and Glenda Anderson, and Leland and Louise Moore; and a brother-inlaw, James England.

Larry was employed with Caylor Industrial, and was a member of UA Local 72 of Atlanta. He was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Stacey Oliver Anderson; his son, David Bailey Anderson of Calhoun; his daughter, Brittney Anderson Young and her husband, Matthew, of Plainville; a grandchild, Lincoln Young; his parents, David and Fran Moore Anderson; sisters, Shonda Patrick and her husband, William, and Kristie England, both of Calhoun; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gail and Bailey Oliver; brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Maxwell and Lorrie Oliver; and nephews, Wesley and Jake England. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Larry Paul Anderson were held Thursday, July 14 at 4 p.m. from Plainview Baptist Church, with Rev. Mark Harris officiatin­g. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Active pallbearer­s will include Stan Randall, Brad Randall, Josh Oliver, Drew Oliver, T.J. Oliver, Wesley England, Jake England, and Dennis Sponaugle. Honorary pallbearer­s were William Patrick, Max Oliver, Allen Baumgardne­r, and Johnny Burden.

The Anderson family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 13 from 5 until 9 p.m.

James Mealor

Mr. James C. Mealor, 89, a longtime resident of the New Town community, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center, following several months of declining health.

He was born in Gordon County on July 26, 1926, son of the late Ethel and Stella Hardeman Mealor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Jackson Mealor in 2011; his son, Larry Mealor in 1992; a brother, Boyd Mealor; and a sister, Annie Lou Foster.

Mr. Mealor was a retired auto body repairman and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of New Town Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Jimmy Mealor and his wife Cheryl of Calhoun; granddaugh­ters, Mandy Mealor Cunniff and her husband, Lt. Colonel Chris Cunniff of Newport, Rhode Island, and Candice Mealor of Calhoun; and greatgrand­children, Ryan, Paige and Sarah Cunniff, all of Rhode Island. A nephew, Greg Mealor, and other relatives also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. James C. Mealor was held Wednesday, July 13 at 2 p.m. from New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. Winfred Casey and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiatin­g. Rev. Walter Hare was in charge of the music. Interment followed in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

The family received friends Wednesday, July 13 between the hours of 12 noon until the funeral hour of 2 p.m. at New Town Baptist Church. Pallbearer­s serving included Mike Hall, Jerry Davis, Roy Davis, Edward Boswell, Elvin Glass, Gary Fuller, and Eddie Watkins.

Shelba Hall

Shelba Hall, age 77, of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at her residence.

Shelba was born on Nov. 28, 1938 in Union County to the late Clyde Spiva and Annie Vonerine Fortenberr­y Spiva. She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Hall; daughter, Janet Lawaine Hall; and brother, James Spiva.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Celeste Hall; three grandchild­ren, Dakota Wayne Hall Rasbury and his wife, Candace Michelle Rasbury, Janet Olivia Rasbury, and Kenneth Patrick Colton Rasbury; great- granddaugh­ter, Tenley Lynn Rasbury; two brothers-in-laws and sisters- in- law, Gene and Virginia Cooper of Rome, and Dan and Shelor Boswell of Calhoun; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services were conducted on Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiatin­g.

The family received friends on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributi­ons be made to the Calhoun First Baptist Building Fund or the John Wayne Hall Teen Center at the Boys and Girls Club.
