The Downtown Depot Farmers Market is open each Monday from 10 a. m. – 2 p. m. throughout the summer. It’s free for vendors.
Gordon Hospital’s CREATION Health Farmers’ Market is a local market providing local farmers and producers the opportunity to sell fresh produce and homemade items to local consumers. This includes but is not limited to fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, plants, herbs, nuts, honey, jams, jellies, salsas, oil, vinegars, baked goods, beverages, and 100 percent handmade arts and crafts. There is no fee to participate as a vendor. The market runs every Thursday evening from 5 - 7 p. m. June 16 – Aug. 18. The market is located on the campus of Gordon Hospital at 1035 Red Bud Road NE. Georgia 4- H Pantry Pride Recipe Contest. Plans are underway for our third annual 4- H Pantry Pride Recipe Contest in partnership with the Georgia Food Bank Association, the Arby’s Foundation and the Georgia National Fair. This contest is to challenge 4- H’ers to think creatively about food and cooking by developing recipes using ingredients commonly found in Georgia Food Banks. Anyone 4th- 12th grade can submit a recipe. All recipes must be submitted to Gordon County 4- H by July 29. All entrants will receive a prize and a certificate and will have their recipes included in a digital cookbook. The top 16 high school 4H’ers will be invited to the state contest held at the Georgia National Fair in Perry on October 9. Georgia 4- H Watermelon Growing Contest. The Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, along with the Georgia Watermelon Association, are sponsoring this year’s 4- H Watermelon Growing Contest. The state winner with the heaviest watermelon will receive $ 100. The second and third place winners will receive $ 50 and $ 25, respectively. The watermelon must be weighed by the 4- H office by August 5. Please see this link for more details.
