Looking into Racism

-

The definition of the word “Racism,” according to various dictionaries, is the belief that certain characteristics, including lack of intelligence, can be attributed to a race of people making that race inferior to another superior race. In America, this label is often used by liberal politicians against white conservative politicians who do not support our black president. I dislike our president and I do not believe that it has anything to do with racism. I hope that I have never given anyone the impression that I am racist. Some of the smartest and nicest people that I have ever met have been from the black race. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed and Hillary Clinton are all white people that I dislike more than I dislike the president. My opinions of these white people and our black president are related to their liberal philosophies on how our country should be run. I do not believe that our country should be operating on debt that we can never repay.

The President, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have all been telling the black people in America that white people, especially white policemen, are treating them unfairly. The Black Lives Matter group have also been telling young black men that the policemen and the courts are both treating them unfairly. I volunteered in the prison system in the state of Alabama for two years as a Chaplain’s Assistant. The prison where I volunteered was approximately 75 percent black and 25 percent white. The population of Alabama is 68 percent white and 26 percent black. There is no expectation that the prison population and the population of the state will have the same rate of race percentages. I talked to a lot of prisoners and I never met one either black or white who did not believe that he should be in the prison based on his actions. The police are not looking for people to arrest based on race; they are arresting violators of the law. There may be exceptions and there may be policemen who dislike blacks. Those need to be weeded out of the police force. dent.

Where employment is concerned, the men over 20 years old are the basic breadwinners. In the white population, 29 percent of the men are not in the workforce because of age, infirmities or just refusal to work. In the black population, this number is 32.2 percent of the men over 20. In the white population, the unemployment in the work force is 4.0 percent. In the black population, the unemployment rate for men over 20 is 8.2 percent.

The disparity in criminal activity, food stamps and employment is not the results of white people not treating black people correctly because of racism. Black experts in social behavior give the main reason to be the breakdown in the black family. It is estimated that 75 percent of black babies are born out of wedlock and there is no father to provide discipline and guidance for the children. The fathers do not pay child support and the mothers turn to the welfare system for support. Some of the children are raised in families where no one works and the government supplies all of the income.

Another problem with black employment is that many of the black families left the south to go north to where the jobs in the automotive industry were located. The liberal Democratic governments in many of the cities did not practice good economic order and the industries left them with no tax base when they moved to other countries to assemble their vehicles. The black workers are unemployed in cities that have no hope at present to regain industries with jobs that will help them. It was not racism that moved the industries and left the men unemployed.

Conservative governments at the city, state and federal level can work to bring jobs back to America that will provide the needed jobs. The conservative Republican party gave the blacks their freedom from slavery and today can give them the best chance for being in the mainline of the economy with jobs homes and a family.
