Gordon County 4-H’ers honored at 4-H State Congress
Georgia 4- H State Congress, the culminating event of the 4- H program year, was held July 26- 29. Georgia 4H Congress includes project competition, special events recognition, scholarship recognition and volunteer recognition. It is a one of the premiere events of Georgia 4- H.
During the week, two 4- H’ers from Gordon County competed in their project categories, having advanced to state competition after winning first place at the district level. Brooklyn Carr took home third place in the Plant and Soil Sciences project. Rising senior Caleb Carr received Master 4-H honors by earning first place at the state level in the Poultry and Egg Science project. Along with Master 4-H status, Caleb has also earned the privilege of attending National 4- H Congress in November. In addition, Makayla Holmes and Alice Kirby were honored on Thursday night as special events winners. Makayla Holmes received Master 4- H status by being the high individual at the state livestock judging contest in March, and Alice Kirby was recognized as earning Master 4-H Showman in goats at the state livestock show last October.
