- By Brandi Owczarz

According to Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss, a multi-state investigation into thefts at several outlet malls has led to the arrest of three individuals.

According to the incident report, the investigation locally involved several different incidences on different dates.

On June 28, 2016, the Polo/Ralph Lauren store at Calhoun Premium Outlets, located at 455 Belwood Road in Calhoun, lost approxi- mately $5,000 in a theft that occurred at the store. According to the official incident report, an officer was dispatched to the store in report to the theft. Store Manager Kristen Moorehead told the officer that three unknown black females entered the store and took all clothing items located on a table in the front of the store. The three suspects ran from the store, driving off in what Moorehead described as a red Toyota Corolla or Camry.

Other theft by shoplifting incidences at Polo/ Ralph Lauren in Calhoun occurred on July 1 and July 26, and on July 27, a theft by shoplifting incident at the Coach Outlet in Calhoun occurred.

On July 14, Moorehead took two photographs of the suspects’ vehicle while it was parked in front of the Polo/Ralph Lauren store. Those photos showed a Tennessee tag and missing front bumper. After viewing the store surveillance photos and running the Tennessee tag information, identities of the suspects were revealed.

Detectives began tracking the suspects on Facebook. The stolen items were being posted on the social media site. In one particular post, detectives noticed the phrase “Interstate Flow” being used when the suspects headed out of town to commit the crimes.

On July 29, a detective from the Woodstock Police Department called the Calhoun Police Department and reported the Polo/Ralph Lauren store in Woodstock had also been hit. The Polo manager at the Woodstock store had advised him of the incidences at the store in Calhoun.

Detectives were able to secure warrants for the suspects with the help of the surveillance videos and tracking them on social media.

Arrested in the thefts are Juwan Shakur Williams, age 23, of Tennessee; Benjamin Amos, age 20, of Tennessee and Daiyzha Glenn, age 17, of Tennessee.

“The total loss in these thefts are in excess of $100,000 and the thefts span five states,” said Lt. Tony Pyle.
