About the Director
Neal Crawford graduated from Douglas County High School. He then went on to earn a B.S. in Music Education and a Masters of Education with Jacksonville State University. This year will mark his 31st year of music education, 18 of those being with Gordon Central High School.
“Over the years I have had the opportunity to perform with the North West Georgia Winds, the Rick White Community Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Players of the South and other community ensembles,” said Crawford. “I have also served as an adjudicator at marching competitions.”
About the Show
The Gordon Central High School Marching Band will be proudly marching ninety students this year. Their halftime show, titled A Day at the Beach, is sure to extend some of that summer sunshine into this fun and exciting show. If you want to get a feel for what is to come, you can enjoy many of their songs with your feet in the sand. Some of these songs include”Morning on the Beach”, “Surfin Safari”. “Beach Bossa”, and “Dance Like No Ones Watching.”
“The kids, parents and band staff are all excited for this upcoming season,” said Crawford. “We will attend two marching competitions this year. One in Armuchee, and the other in Jacksonville, Alabama.”
This dedicated band had plenty of practice in the sunshine as they spent three intense weeks of summer preparing for the season. “We are proud to be the Blue Wave Band and proud to be Gordon Central Warriors,” said Crawford.
