Gordon Central earned an early lead, but it was Coosa who took the momentum and ran with it on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles used a big offensive day to earn a convincing region road win 13-2 over the Lady Warriors in six innings.

Coosa ( 8- 10, 3- 7) racked up 11 hits, includ- ing a huge effort from Neeleigh Edwards and Anniston Parris, who combined for six hits, six RBIs and three runs scored. Parris was 3-for4 with a homer, a double and three RBIs, and Edwards added three hits and three RBIs of her own.

Also contributi­ng offensivel­y for the Lady Eagles was Kaylee Clayton with two hits, including a double, an RBI and two runs scored, Lindsay Hamby with a double and two RBIs, Anna Cowan with a double and an RBI, Gracie Shumate with a hit and three runs scored and Kelsey Allred who drove in a run.

Coosa fell behind 1-0 after one inning, but then scored five in the third to turn the game around. They added three in the fifth, and then blew the game open with a fiverun sixth.

Gordon Central (2-13, 2-8) was led by Destiny Parker at the plate with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Mackenzie Hall added two hits, and Sam Jordan drove in a run.

Coosa was back home on Tuesday, hosting Dade County. Gordon Central hosted Pepperell on Tuesday. (For details on that game, see Saturday’s Calhoun Times.) They host Armuchee on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

SOFTBALL LFO 7, Phoenix 6

The Lady Phoenix built an early lead on Monday in a makeup of an earlier rainout, but LFO scored seven runs over three innings to rally for the win at home.

Sonoravill­e (10-10) built a 5-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth, but LFO took control from there, scoring two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth to send the Lady Phoenix to a Region 6AAA crossover loss.

Kristen Davis had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate in the Sonoravill­e loss, with two RBIs. Baylee Blaylock added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and Harleigh Chastain had three hits of her own. Mollie Locke had two doubles and an RBI, Thaley Jackson added two hits and Alyssa Hughes drove in a run and had a hit.

Jackson took the loss in relief, giving up two runs (both unearned) on two hits in one inning of work. Kelsey Mulkey started and pitched three scoreless innings, giving up four hits. Hughes also pitched in relief and gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits.

Sonoravill­e visited Adairsvill­e to wrap up the subregion schedule on Tuesday. (For details on that game, see Saturday’s Calhoun Times.)

They will play in the Elite Sports Classic on Saturday at Loganville High School where they will take on East Jackson at 1 p.m. and Eagles Landing Christian Academy at 3 p.m.

Coahulla Creek 10, Gordon Central 1

The Lady Warriors mustered just three hits as they fell at home by big margin in a non-region contest on Monday.

Cailey Martin was one of the few bright spots in the loss for Gordon Central (2-14) as she had two triples and a run scored. Cara Crump also added a hit.

It was a tough day in the circle for Gordon Central pitchers. Morgan Frank pitched 2 23 innings and gave up six runs (all unearned) on nine hits, and Dalyn Muse went 2 1-3 innings and gave up four runs on six hits while striking out two.

The Lady Warriors have four regular season games remaining.
