Students in CHS HackIT Jacket class create solar bugs

-

Students in Ms. Cherri Rains’ HackIT Jacket class at Calhoun High School recently created solar bugs in class. The “bugs” were created using solar panels, paper clips, wire, motor, and decorative items. The students learned how to create a circuit and how to solder during this project. The finished products were tested in the afternoon sun and most of the “bugs” danced around. The HackIT Jacket class is a fifth period option for CHS students. Fifth period is part of an innovative schedule design to allow for enrichment and acceleration. This innovative practice is one of the reasons Calhoun City Schools was named the 2016 Charter System of the Year from the Georgia Charter System Foundation and Lt. Governor Casey Cagle. Calhoun City Schools will continue to exceed the black and gold standard of excellence and prepare students for college and careers.
