Commissioners meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month for the regular called Board Meetings at 12:00 p.m. Special Board meetings will be advertised in advance. Gordon Hospital will host Ladies Night at the Sonoraville Recreation Department on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Gordon Hospital will host the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Booster Breakfast on Friday, Oct. 7 beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the North Tower of the hospital. The October meeting of the Conasauga Chapter of the Georgia Nurses Association will meet on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the Whitfield County Health Center. The program will be on flight nursing presented by Johnny Cowart, RN, CFRN, NRP. This will be an interesting and exciting program. A meal will be provided. We will have vegetable soup and taco soup. Bake Sale and Benefit for Ryder Stone will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9 at BB&T City Park in Downtown Calhoun. Will start selling at 9 a.m. Kona Ice truck will be there at 12 p.m. There will be t-shirts and wrist bands on sale. Will also sell tickets for a raffle which will include some of the following items: Tractor Supply gift card, two Tractor Supply hats, gift card form Emi Lu’s Cakes, gift card from Hannah’s nails and more.

Open Enrollment for Medicare is right around the corner, from Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. A mobile unit will be in Calhoun on Monday, Oct. 24 in which GeorgiaCares representatives will be available to help individuals with the registration process. The mobile unit will be located at Gordon County Department of Family and Children Services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Gordon County Nutrition Site would like to invite seniors ages 60 and over to come to the senior center, located at 150 Cambridge Court Monday–Friday at 11:30 a.m. for a nutritious meal. Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in its fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, month-tomonth basis. Class days and times are as follows: Step Aerobics Class - Monday, 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Instructor: Tonya Wilbanks. Butt and Gut Class - Wednesday, 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Instructor: Petrina Pritchett. Strength Training - Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Instructor: Petrina Pritchett/ Tonya Wilbanks. Fee Structure: Memberships are $20 per month to access all aerobic classes. Use of the weight room is $20 per month. To use weight room and access all aerobic classes the cost is $30 per month. Paid on a month-to-month basis so no need for a contract.
