Donald King

Donald “Duck“King, age 65, of Calhoun, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 1, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born Dec. 4, 1950 in Whitfield County, son of the late Dick Baxter King and Jemae Phillips King. He was employed for more than 20 years at Calhoun Plastic and Chemicals as a truck driver prior to his retirement. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, the American Legion and the Calhoun Elks Lodge. Donald was a 1969 graduate of the Calhoun High School. He loved people and enjoyed life.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sharon Ingle King; one son, Brian King and his companion, Chastity Black; one daughter, Christy and her husband, Josh Freeman; five grandchild­ren: Garison Garland, Caleb Freeman, Kamdon King, Abigail Freeman, and Ava King; his brother, Ronald, and his wife, Margie King; one sister, Brenda King Pack; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. from Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Davis and Rev. Stacy Hensley officiatin­g. Abigail Freeman and Allen Weaver were in charge of music. Burial followed in Fain Cemetery.

Pallbearer­s serving included Shane Parrott, Conner Bailey, Darryl Mealor, Reid Ingle, Steve Stone and Drake Weaver. Honorary pallbearer­s will included Reed Davis, Dudley Meadows, L.C. Grogan, Hailey O’Neal as well as employees of Calhoun Plastic and Chemical and Stanfield Brothers Paving.

The family received friends Sunday, Oct. 2 from 1 until 4 p. m. and on Monday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at Heritage Baptist Church.

Helon Fouts

Mrs. Helon Walker Fouts, age 86, of Highway 140, Adairsvill­e, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016.

Mrs. Fouts was born in Temple, Georgia on Oct. 4, 1929, daughter of the late Rufus Hershel Walker and Grace Lovell Walker. She was a member of Adairsvill­e United Methodist Church. Mrs. Fouts retired from the Fulton County School System and was a talented seamstress. She was an avid gardener, lover of animals, and as her family would say “the best cook in the world.” She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Lovingood.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixtyfive years, William Fouts, of Adairsvill­e; children, Edward and Brenda Fouts of Calhoun, Joyce Fouts of Calhoun, and Paula Fouts of Calhoun; grandchild­ren, Nicole Duffey ( Josh) Robison, Elizabeth Fouts, Chris Fouts, and Hannah Trusty.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 12 noon from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Brisendine officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.

Jeanette Boling

Mrs. Jeanette Boling, age 71, of Calhoun, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette was born Sept. 12, 1945 in Alabama, daughter of the late Virgil and Ruby Thomason Childers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luke Boling, brothers, Billy, Jack, James, Eugene and WC Childers; sisters, Hazel Timms, Judy Lowery.

She is survived by her sons and daughterin-law, Jim Boling of Calhoun, Tim and Karen Boling of Chatsworth, Jay Boling of Acworth; daughters and sons- in- law, Judy and Stewart Wilson of Douglasvil­le, Mary and Tim Patterson of Adairsvill­e; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Bobby Guger of Higdon, Ala., Faye and Randall Pendley of Talking Rock; ten grandchild­ren, twelve great grandchild­ren, several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jeanette Boling will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Oak Hills Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Temples and Reverend Wiley Walden officiatin­g. She will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will following at the church cemetery her grandson will serve as pallbearer­s.

John Gordon

Mr. John Edward Gordon, 84, of Dalton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016.

He was the son of the late John H. and Mattie Smith Gordon and was preceded in death by his son, Bill Karl Gordon; sisters, Fannie Lou Gordon and Margaret Hunt; brother, James William Gordon; sister-in-law, Mattie Gordon.

John was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was the owner of Gordon’s Chevron from 1978 to 2001 and a Whitfield County School Bus driver for more than 20 years. John was a avid dirt track/stock car driver at North Georgia Speedway from 1970’s to the 1990’s.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Temple Tarvin Gordon, of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Dana Brock Gordon of Ranger, and Wayne Edward Gordon of Lafayette; daughter, Tracey Chambers of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Bobby Scruggs of Dalton, Ann and Melvin Hopkins of Dalton; grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Brother James Watts and Richard Brock officiatin­g.

Burial followed in Tilton Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post # 112 in charge of military rites.

Pallbearer­s were Johnny Gordon, Gus Gordon, Josh Gordon, Harley Gordon, Darrin Branch and Milton Brown.

Kerry Cosby

Mr. Kerry Lee Cosby, age 69, of Highway 140, Adairsvill­e, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cosby was born in Douglasvil­le, on April 17, 1947, son of the late Lee Oren Cosby and Irene Horsley Cosby. Mr. Cosby was a member at Plainview Baptist Church and was a truck driver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Taylorsvil­le John W. Akin Masonic Lodge #537 and honorary member at the Euharlee Masonic Lodge #457, Adairsvill­e Masonic Lodge #168, East Floyd Masonic Lodge #728, and Kingston Masonic Lodge #394. He loved taking his grandchild­ren fishing and enjoyed working on old tractors. Mr. Cosby is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Pat Cosby of Adairsvill­e; children, Troy (Melanie) Cosby, Tina (Scott) Bitner, Gary Cosby, Stephen (Graciela) Hegedus, Michael (Kimberly) Cosby, and Cherie ( Jeremy) Lawley; several grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren; sister, Kathy (Larry) Burgess.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. from Plainview Baptist Church, Adairsvill­e with Rev. Randy Jackson officiatin­g. The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic grave rites. Plainview Baptist Church is located at 1587 Plainview Rd SE, Adairsvill­e, GA 30103.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Barton Funeral Home, Adairsvill­e.
