With people complaining nationwide about, not only the state of the country, but politics in general, the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration reminds residents that early voting for the upcoming presidential election begins this Monday, Oct. 17.

According to Shea Hicks, chairperson of the Gordon County Board of Elections, early voting runs through Friday, Nov. 4. Early voting will take place in the Gordon County Elections and Voter Registration Office, from 8: 30 a. m. – 5 p. m., Monday through Friday. There will also be an early voting Saturday on Oct. 29 from 9 a. m. until 4 p. m. at the Gordon County Elections and Voter Registration Office, located at 101 South Piedmont Street in downtown Calhoun.

“We encourage voters to come out early and cast your ballot and avoid the long lines on Election Day,” said Hicks.

Most local races were decided during the General Primary in late May, as there was no opposition from democrats. More than 5840 votes were cast in the General Primary Election throughout Gordon County, out of 22,923 registered voters. Hicks hopes for better voter turnout during the upcoming election. There is a deciding write- in vote for Chief Magistrate of Gordon County.
