TOBI Says, Are you religious?

-

Maybe you should consider what religious means. I know a religious golfer. He plays golf every Friday, religiously. But bad weather may cause him to miss a week.

Do you know someone that religiously follows a strict diet? Others have trouble keeping to their diet religiously. They try to do it some of the time.

Others do it sporadically, maybe when they add a few pounds, and they decide again that they need to do it.

Sounds more like the word faithful, or maybe the word committed. But what do they mean?

Faithful and committed put the emphasis on the person, and the work that they are willing to do at the time. Commitment in people can come and go with the conditions and situations that they are in at the time.

Being a Christian is different. You have heard people say that it is a relationship. A relationship is like a brother or sister. There is no work to being a child or parent. You are, or you are not.

Being a Christian is becoming a child of God. When you ask Jesus to forgive your sin, He welcomes you into His family. And that is the best family that you will ever have.

Being a Christian makes you a member of the family of God. Then you want to be a part of a church family.

So you can be religious. You can try to do anything regularly, and that makes you religious. You decide what you are religious about. But the most important thing is to be a part of the family of God.
