City of Calhoun recognizes National Education Week
At the most recent meeting of the Calhoun City Council, the Council approved a proclamation to recognize National Education Week. The proclamation was submitted by Dr. Joann T. Meadows, retired educator and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 educational chairman.
“This is to recognize November 13 through November 19 as National Education Week,” said Mayor Jimmy Palmer. “The schools represent a major investment of any community, and teachers are the most important part of our community’s leadership and schools represent the best possible avenue of approving the quality of life in our community.
“We appreciate everything our educators do,” said Mayor Palmer. “We are very proud to recognize National Education Week.”
Mayor Palmer then opened a public hearing of an annexation and zoning request of C- 2 for 2.47 acres at Parcel # 057B096 and 0.78 acres at Parcel # 057A- 134A, on Lovers Lane, which was approved by the Council.
