The Gordon County Ministeria­l Associatio­n is again sponsoring the Gordon County Hunger Walk on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 to raise money for four food banks in the area. The walk will be held on the walking trails at the newer part of the Calhoun Recreation Center off of McDaniel Station Road at 3 p.m. Please come early enough to register prior to the walk from 2:30 - 3 p.m. Registrati­on will be in the pavilion next to the Black and Yellow playground near the George Chambers Resource Center.

Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in its fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, month-tomonth basis. MOMS Club of Calhoun is a new local chapter of an internatio­nal nonprofit group. MOMS Club is a support group designed for the at-home mother of today. Membership is open to all moms who live in Gordon County. Events are scheduled weekdays during the day and children are welcome at all events. Mothers of any age children are welcome. The goals of the group are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, provide a forum for topics of interest to all mothers, to help children in the community and perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children.
