Open Enrollment for Medicare is right around the corner, from Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. A mobile unit will be in Calhoun on Monday, Oct. 24 in which GeorgiaCares representatives will be available to help individuals with the registration process. The mobile unit will be located at Gordon County Department of Family and Children Services from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership is partnering with the nursing program at Dalton State College to offer a free wellness workshop for the community on Monday, Oct. 24 by appointment only. On Saturday, Oct. 29, Gordon Health & Rehabilitation will be having a Fall Festival Fundraiser from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.. The Gordon County Ministerial Association is again sponsoring the Gordon County Hunger Walk on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 to raise money for four food banks in the area. The walk will be held on the walking trails at the newer part of the Calhoun Recreation Center off of McDaniel Station Road at 3 p.m. Please come early enough to register prior to the walk from 2:30 - 3 p.m. Registration will be in the pavilion next to the Black and Yellow playground near the George Chambers Resource Center.
The Calhoun Elkettes are hosting a BINGO night on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m. The event will also feature food, game prizes, door prizes and a split the pot contest. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for those that want to arrive early. For more information, please call Pam at 706-280-5168.

Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in its fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, month-tomonth basis. Use of the weight room is $20 per month. To use weight room and access all aerobic classes the cost is $30 per month. Paid on a month-to-month basis so no need for a contract.

MOMS Club of Calhoun is a new local chapter of an international nonprofit group. MOMS Club is a support group designed for the at-home mother of today. Membership is open to all moms who live in Gordon County. Events are scheduled weekdays during the day and children are welcome at all events. Mothers of any age children are welcome. The goals of the group are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, provide a forum for topics of interest to all mothers, to help children in the community and perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children.
