Dr. Dorsey Van Horn of Van Horn Dental, located at 530 Red Bud Road in Calhoun, is currently taking donations of canned and boxed foods for a Food Drive, where donations will be delivered to Calhoun Primary and Sonoravill­e Elementary schools. Anyone wishing to donate can bring their canned and boxed foods through Nov. 17, 2016. Names of those who donate will go into a drawing for a gift card.

Families Anonymous is a 12-step program, for those concerned about drug abuse and behavior problems of a relative or friend. Completely anonymous, non profession­al, and non religious. In recognitio­n of National American Indian Heritage Month, New Echota-Cherokee Capital State Historic Site in Calhoun and the Friends of New Echota Historic Site will present Native American Heritage Day on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. New Echota is open Wednesday- Saturday, 9a.m.-5:00p.m. and is located on State Highway 225, off Exit 317, Interstate I-75. The Nov. 12, 2016 meeting of the Georgia Chapter of the Trail of Tears Associatio­n (GA TOTA) will be held at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefiel­d Park in the Visitor Center auditorium from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Georgia Toastmaste­rs is looking for past Toastmaste­rs living in the CalhounDal­ton area who would be interested in helping us rebuild one of our clubs in the area. Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in its fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, month-tomonth basis. MOMS Club of Calhoun is a new local chapter of an internatio­nal nonprofit group. MOMS Club is a support group designed for the at-home mother of today. Membership is open to all moms who live in Gordon County. Events are scheduled weekdays during the day and children are welcome at all events. Mothers of any age children are welcome. The goals of the group are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to stay at home to raise their children, provide a forum for topics of interest to all mothers, to help children in the community and perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children. YOGA classes at the Harris Arts Center are held every Wednesday evening in the upstairs Community Room. No need to register; classes are ongoing. All level yoga is from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday for those with some degree of flexibilit­y. There is a beginner yoga class from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for everyone.
