TOBI Says, November to remember

-

The country just celebrated Veteran’s Day. It was a day to remember those that are or were in the military. It is a time to thank them for their service to the country. It was a job. It was not a time to expect to get rich. Their talents are used for the benefit of their country.

November is also a time for the country to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanksgiving is a time to look back and think about those early settlers of this country.

The first that come to mind are the pilgrims and the puritans. They and others like them came to this country to have freedom to worship God when and where they chose. Many of their values and principles were incorporated into the early laws of the country.

Others came as adventurers, explorers and entrepreneurs. Some even came as runaways and castaways. It was a difficult life for all of them. Many died in their first months in the new land. Men like Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe studied the history of many countries and civilizations to find the best form of government for the new country. It was to be an experiment seldom tried in the world.

Most of the key components were based on the Bible, and God’s principles. It was not a Christian nation, but it was easy to see God’s hand it.

The experiment has lasted over 200 years. Something was done right. I am sure that during your time in school you will have a time to read some of those documents. But also study the source of much of that wisdom. You can read your Bible. You will be glad that you did.
