Veteran’s Deer Hunt

The Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Safari Club International hosted a special deer hunt on Nov. 11, 12 and 13 at a private hunting club for combat wounded veterans. Fourteen veterans participated and all but one got a deer.

Keith Watson, military coordinator for SCI, said the club supports all veterans and wanted to do something special for the veterans who were wounded by enemy forces while serving to protect all of our people and ensure that the next generation will continue to be free.

Pictured is Marvin Garner, a local veteran, with the nine point buck he harvested on Nov. 12. It field dressed 162 lbs. and had a 19- inch inside antler spread.
