Gordon County 4-H Homeschool Club

-

While Gordon County 4- H offers standards- based educational curriculum to 4th- 12th grade students at both Calhoun City and Gordon County Schools, homeschooled youth are also welcome to join 4- H as a member. Gordon County 4-H offers a Homeschool Club that meets monthly. The club typically meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 2: 00 p. m. though that day/ time may vary depending on the activity for the month. Usually, the club meets briefly to discuss upcoming 4- H events and have a mini- lesson in life skills, such as introductions, handshakes, etiquette, etc. and then the club travels to a local business or organization for a field trip to learn about the organization, its contributions in Gordon County, and career opportunities available in that field. Field trip locations have included the Calhoun Times, Cabela’s, WJTH radio station, Calhoun Animal Shelter, Gordon County Fire Department, Payne Farms, Tom B. David Airport, and others.

The next homeschool club meeting will be on December 8 at 2: 00 p. m. at the Gordon County 4- H office. After a short meeting, the club will travel to Gordon Hospital to learn about their organization. The homeschool club is open to youth from ages 5- 18. For more information or to join the club, or if you would like to host a field trip at your business or organization, please call the Gordon County 4- H office at 706- 629- 8685.
