Deputy sheriffs with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office responded Wednesday night, Dec. 21, shortly before 10 p. m., to a residence on Trimble Hollow Road on the south side of the county, in response to a report of a death.

When deputies arrived, they met with a male resident of the home who stated that he had arrived at the residence and found his wife, 33- year- old Annie Carringer, dead.

Detectives were then sent to the home, along with Gordon County Deputy Coroner Christie Nicholson. According to a statement from Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston, the GCSO Crime Scene Unit, as well as Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 1 Crime Scene detectives spent several hours searching the area and collecting physical evidence as detectives questioned witnesses.

Carringer’s body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur to undergo postmortem examination.

Shortly before 9 a. m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, detectives with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged the victim’s husband, Jonathan Carringer, 33, of 275 Trimble Hollow Road, with murder. At press time, he is currently in Gordon County jail awaiting his first court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing by both the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office and the Gordon County Coroner’s Office.
