various religious services, Jesus is largely omitted from the acts of celebratio­n. That is true while at the same time we hear more and more attacks against the Christian religion from atheists, humanists, some areas of government and nonbelieve­rs. We hear those attacks with little response or defense. It is here I need to recommend that all believers in God and His Son Jesus to become more equipped in the field of Christian Apologetic­s. The word apologetic­s is not used here in the sense of apologizin­g for some wrong done or words spoken. It is the word that refers to the branch of theology having to do with the defense and proofs of Christiani­ty.

It was an advertisem­ent seen on TV a few days ago declaring that we all go shopping and look for “the perfect gift.” That ad is the motivation for the column today. We will begin by discussing:

Over many decades, I have witnessed the giving of gifts of every descriptio­n to members of my family. I would not forget the early days of school when we drew names and gifts were exchanged among students. Those gifts were of various value and different functions.

Today we give gifts from small items to new automobile­s and other expensive items. Jewelry is a favorite item of expensive gifts. But please note the following points:
